Ludwig Van Beethoven Ludwig Van Beethoven was a very famous German composer and pianist. Many believe he was the greatest composer of all time. He is widely recognized and admired in the history of Western music. He played an important role in the music styles he had admired. Classical and Baroque. As a symphonist, he was the first to use the “Wind band” of the orchestra. While being a quartet writer he leveled up the genre of music he composed and made it to where anyone that wished to be considered a composer must write string quartets. He then began learning music from noble composers like Gottlob Neefe. Gottlob Neefe not only taught Beethoven music, he taught him about philosophers, ancient and modern. His childhood was filled with musical harmony. Yet, there have been rumors that Ludwig’s father would lock him in the basement and would force him to practice music, which Ludwig didn’t enjoy much. Whether the rumors of Beethoven being abused were false claims or not, he still enjoyed music very much and put his talent to use at its full potential. His brother, Carl, said it was their luck for Ludwig and even the entire family that Beethoven had the talent he did. Eventually, using his talent for work started to bring income to the household. It was just fortunate for them because they began running low on the family inheritance Prince Maximillian Franz had heard of Beethoven and his music, so he sent Beethoven to Vienna, in 1787, to meet Mozart and further his musical education. During the time, Vienna was the capital of music. There exist only texts of disputable authenticity on the subject of this meeting between Mozart and Beethoven. He composed music with a powerful and stormy manner. In 1782, before he was twelve, he published his first work, 9 variations in C minor. Though, he is best known for nine symphonies, his top known song around the world is Symphony No. 5. Coming in second would be Symphony No. 9 because of their magnificence. Not only was Beethoven famous because of his music, but also for his continuation of composing while he began to become deaf by the age of 28. By 1820, he started making some of his most famous pieces of work. These include the last five piano sonatas, the Missa solemnis, and the last five string quartets, as well as the fifth and ninth symphony. It is fabricated that he was never completely deaf, but many believe otherwise. The Choral Symphony (Ninth) is one of Beethoven’s most powerful masterpiece. When Beethoven wrote this, he was completely deaf (many believed). The characteristics to the style of music Beethoven composed consists of what was known to be “romantic” but is basically recognized as classical.
