Bedroom Observation

It was a sunny day outside and I had just moved into my new apartment. My son was with me, ordinarily, and was 12 at the time but really hated elevators. To his “luck” there was an elevator in the apartment complex that could only have up to 3 people. I knew Martin didn’t like elevators, but when he came home the day after we moved in, out of breath, I knew he used the stairs. We were on floor 17 for Pete sake. I asked him why didn’t use the elevator. He explained to me about the stairs and how he was scared of the elevator with how old the thing was. I got really tired of the whole scared of the elevator talk and turned around returning my gaze on the T.V., as he went to his room.

The next day was quite peaceful...always is but more so than any other day. I got my last report in and watched some T.V. I heard the door slam halfway into the football game and knew my son was back from school. He told me there was a strange fat lady that always got on the elevator when he did and asked me if I ever noticed her. “Don't think I have”, I said, too busy watching the game to look at …show more content…

I was working on a spreadsheet and looked at the time, then looked outside the window but didn’t see Martin there standing at the bus stop. I stopped working on the spreadsheet and went out only to find Martin crawling on the floor. He told me that while going down the stairs he fell and sprained his ankle. Trying to hide the anger in my body, nevertheless I took him to the hospital. We got some crutches for him and went on our way. Going to the apartment and getting on the elevator I realized that I almost forgot to check up on Terry Ullman, and pressed floor 9 the elevator went up and got to number 9 in a hurry. I thought to myself, “That's unnatural for the elevator to go so fast before”. The double doors opened up, as I went out I heard Martin's voice.“You're not going to leave me on the elevator alone are you?”, he said. Grow up
