Find Your Sea Legs on These Three Daytona Beach-Area Piers

Want to sink a fishing line in salt water? Walk above the waves? If you’re a Daytona Beach-area resident, we know three places where that’s not only possible, but doing so makes the perfect daily escape.

Luckily for you, there are three historic piers within easy reach of our ICI Homes communities. Depending where you settle, head a bit north to the Flagler Beach Pier, visit the more centrally located Daytona Beach Pier, or go south to the Sunglow Pier in Daytona Beach Shores.

Sunglow Pier

Located just south of the “World’s Most Famous Beach,” the Sunglow Pier has been around since 1960. It’s in a quieter area, surrounded by residential neighborhoods and high-rise condominiums. The beach scene around it still hops, however, so there’s plenty of people watching.

Crabby Joe’s restaurant on the Sunglo Pier serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Early-bird fishing types and sunrise photographers can enjoy a hot meal before getting busy. It’s also a popular happy-hour establishment, since you can park your chairs, towels or bicycles on the beach, then climb adjacent steps to enjoy a Crabby Joe’s libation.

Beyond the restaurant lies the Sunglow Fishing Pier. Strolling its length is free. Fishing requires an admission fee. Bait can purchased and equipment can be rented in the pier’s fishing shop.

Daytona Beach Pier

A few miles north of the Sunglow Pier, you’ll find one of Daytona Beach’s icons. The historic pier — it dates to 1925 — juts 1,000 feet into the Atlantic surf. It’s in the middle of all the action, just north of where Main Street meets A1A, Florida’s coastal
