100 years baseball has been at the center of cultural life in the Caribbean mostly the Dominican republic although its not known about the origins of the sport historians believe or suggest that this sport came to the island in the 1800’s.
Some historians say that it was the American marines that brought the game to the island during the 1916 invasion.
Most believe that the US brought the game to Cuba in the mid 1860’s it was believed that the Cuban immigrants fleeing their country ten year war who influenced the game throughout the Caribbean islands and the Dominican republic the first teams were formed in 1894 or 1895.
