Bruno Brian ran slim fingers over his carefully styled hair. Shrugging the navy blazer more comfortably on his broad shoulders, he wondered if his businessman's disguise masked the figure of a broken-down football coach who hadn't worked in years. He took another sip of beer as he saw Shorty Lopez striding into the bar. "Where you been?" Bruno growled. "You're late." Shorty eased into the booth, his toes barely touching the floor. "Cool your jets, Bruno," he snapped. "I'm always at the starting gate when it counts, ain't I?" Bruno hated to admit Shorty was right. "Ready for another heist?" "Thought you'd never ask. What's up?" "First National Bank of Prairieton, Iowa-- population twenty thousand," Bruno replied. "Rich farm community across the state line. We should split a hundred grand." "That'll set me up in Acapulco for a few months," Shorty said. Bruno ignored him. "Here's the plan. Tonight while you're holed up in a motel, I'll meet with the bank prez. If there's inside info to be had, I'll get it." "You're going to dinner with the prez? Come on!" "No joke. The big gun is my aunt, Alice Brunk." "A woman?" "Yeah. She held out for a career before it was the 'in' thing for women." "And you'd steal from family? Why?" So when do we strike?" Shorty asked. "Early in the morning, I hope. A bookmaker, Martin Krugman, told Burke's associate, Henry Hill, about the money that had been stolen. At the Kennedy Airport the stolen millions was stored in a vault. An employee at the airport, Louis Werner, owed close to $20,000 for his gambling problem and also to, Pete Gruenwald, a former coworker. Earlier, Pete Gruenwald and Louis Werner stole $22,000, without a problem from a previous employer, Lufthansa. The man who helped with all the planning was, Louis Werner. Werner went as far as telling the 'get away cars' where to park, so they could execute the plan perfectly. To get the money to its destination, they used a huge van to transport it, but it interfered with a "crash" car to make sure there was a police chase. By the 1970’s, criminal organizations and more specifically, the drug trade began to make profits that attracted the attention of Congress. In 1999, it was estimated that drug trafficking alone produced approximately $48 billion in profits per year to be laundered in U.S. Dollars. These profits could no longer go unnoticed by drug dealers spending it on daily activities such as food, clothes, and entertainment. From a pure logistics standpoint, $48 billion dollars isn’t going to fit under the mattress. Drug dealers were forced to try and blend these profits into legitimate business or pass it through financial institutions in the hope that the money’s origin would become obscured.

The acts of crime have existed long before laws have existed. But because crimes do and will occur, laws need to be established and enforced to protect the innocent from harm and/or wrongdoing by another. Laws have been and still are being made to help prevent crimes from happening and to stop existing crimes from occurring. These unlawful acts range in a variety of categories. These categories are then put into subgroups to help specify a more accurate concentration on this issue. Because crimes are better focused on in categorized groups, more helpful research has been established to better understand and lessen the risk of these crimes from occurring to others throughout their everyday lives.
