Career of Automotive Customizers By the mid-20th century, America’s top three auto manufacturers — General Motors (GM), Ford and Chrysler — produced approximately two-thirds of all cars sold in the world. This global dominance continued until the early 1970s. In the world today there are billions of cars on the earth, and no matter what condition the best car in the world is in, it will always need to be worked on and improved. With that being said, that opens up a demanding market for men and women who can fix, repair, refinish, and customize vehicles roaming the streets today. To perform the necessary tasks to be successful in the customizing and repairing industry, one must know the job responsibilities and with the responsibility, comes job advancements. In the pursuance of putting creativity, imagination, and personal touches on rolling pieces of art in the automotive world, future automotive customizers must accredit the necessary job requirements, job responsibilities, salary, and educational requirements to perform the tasks for the career. The job advancements available for automotive customizers are endless, depending on the size and type of shop one works in will foreshadow the advancements one may acquire. “Automotive repairers and painters may earn an additional amount per hour for a cost-of-living allowance. In larger shops, automotive repairs may be promoted to estimator or body shop supervisor. In a small shop there is little to no chance for promotion or advancements, others may own their own shops” (Langing community college). Small shops, most of the time, or privately owned and just simply can’t afford to give thirteen people promotions or vacation time.
