I attribute my interest in music to my brother. Overtime, I discovered my music preferences categorizes in the Alternative rock genre. A month ago I moved to Austin an discovered it is the live music capitol. Therefore, I decide to research what music festival defines the Austin music community better and what festival will provide any new Austinite or visitor the experience to the real Austin music festival experience. In essence, I came upon two festivals: Austin City Limits (ACL) an international known music festival, and FunFunFun Fest (FFF Fest), a festival known mostly by Austinites. Therefore, I concluded a festival that represents Austin’s pure eccentricity does not try to be “weird.” Fest300 claims “Austin has a reputation of liberalism and bohemia in the midst of the more conservative South, and as such ACL promotes the city’s unique stature through a green, sustainable festival open to everyone in the community.” Although Fest300’s claim about Austin is true, ACL does not represent Austin. In essence, ACL, with the popular stigma of being indie, actually is more of a mainstream festival because of its popularity. On the contrary what makes the city is a community with people. In other words nowhere does Fest300 mention the people actually being involved in the ACL “virtual city” of Austin. Moreover, Yes, the local vendors, brewery, and waterfilling stations consist may consist of Austin residents as workers, yet the entrepreneurs of this businesses remains unknown. For all anybody may know is that these businesses may be managed by outside people of the Austin community. Therefore, the “virtual city” in ACL contains no source of where their materialistic (local businesses) representation derives
Over the years, the Calle Ocho festival has brought hundreds of smiles to thousands of people. Behind the smiles, the laughter, and the dances, there is a serious side to the festivities. In the beginning, Willy Bermello just wanted a little backyard get-together that would bring neighbors closer, but the festival turned into something much, much bigger. With the festival's growth and inevitable commercialization, Bermello increasingly felt that its importance was being forgotten. He wanted to let people know this was more than just a big party. Bissinger writes a novel called Friday Night Lights, about a year in 1988 where High School players prepare and play on the High School team, and what an impact they have on a small city in Texas.

In 1956, a woman from middle class Manchester, New Hampshire wrote a book that shocked the nation. At 32 years old, Grace Metalious wrote the blockbuster novel Peyton Place. It transformed the publishing industry and made the author one of the most talked about people in the nation. Metalious wrote about incest, abortion, sex, rape, adultery, repression, lust, and the secrets of small town New England, things that were never discussed before in conservative America. She interpreted incest, wife beating, and poverty as social failures instead of individual flops. When Metalious published Peyton Place, the country was in the grasp of a new wave of sexual panic.
In a public, people share common ideologies among themselves. These ideologies are similar among individuals, but not identical for each individual. Furthermore, listening to people’s inside viewpoint clarifies what their public is. In contrast, outside viewpoints also helps clarify a public by providing different perspectives. In 1969 at Bethel, New York, the Woodstock Music and Art Fair was 3 day event that was all about peace, love, music, and partying. It was a historic event that changed what was known back then as the “hippie movement”. At Woodstock there were many influential artists that performed at this huge event. There are many conflicting opinions on whether high school sports are a positive or negative influence on a student’s life. Athletics in high school can have an effect on the community as a whole. In H.G. Bisssinger’s highly regarded Friday Night Lights, high school football is accurately portrayed as the most important thing in Texas; it receives much more attention than academics. Football players are often treated like celebrities; yielding confidence, and at the same time creating pressure.
In my essay I will discuss the differences between national cinema and Hollywood cinema by using Rio de Janeiro¡¯s famous film City of God. There will be three parts in my following main body, the first part is a simple review of the film City of God, I will try to use the review to show the film structure and some different new points from this, show the how did the ¡®Shocking, frightening, thrilling and funny¡¯ (Nev Pierce) work in the film. The second part is my discussion parts; I will refer some typical Hollywood big name films such as Gangs in New York, Shawshank¡¯s Redemption, and Good Fellas to discuss the main differences between City of God and other national films. Along with the peak of several movements music began to reach a point of climax. Rock specifically began to flourish in the 1960’s, while expressing the voice of the liberated generation. It is the power of such trends that overall lead to what is known as the greatest music festival of all time: Woodstock Music and Art Fair. The festival started on August 15, 1969 on Max Yasgur’s farm in Bethel, New York. Appealing to the time period, Woodstock was designed to be Three Days of Peace and Music. However, many argue that it was more than just a musical art fair of peace, but a historically significant event that shifted American culture. While some regard Woodstock as the beginning of a cultural advancement and the end of a naïve era, others view it as ridiculous hippy festival infested with illegal drug usage. Woodstock cost over $2.4 million and attracted over 450,000 people (Tiber, 1). Despite the debate of whether Woodstock produced a positive or negative effect, it is clear that a note worthy impact was made. When discussing the overall impact of Woodstock it is important to look at the influences and creative plan and the positive and negative effects produced from the festival.
