The glaciers are melting hundred times faster than anytime in history. Causing sea levels to rise between 7 and 23 inches by the end of the century. While global temperatures continue to rise the ocean will get warmer impacting sea life. For example, squid and tuna have migrated up to the Northern Pacific because water here in Southern California are not as cold as they use to be to keep them alive. Salmon is about to be affected if northern Pacific if water continues to get warmer. Over the years researchers have seen a decline of penguins have fallen from 32,000 to 11,000 in 30 years. Global Warming has already made an impact on food Shortages and it’s just going to get worse. It’s is estimated that by 2025 2.5 billion people will live in scarce areas. While drought increases it will reduce the harvesting of rice and corn by 20-40%. It is going to cause inflation do to high demand and shortages of supply. African, middle east, Asia, Australia, U.S are expected to suffer. We need water for everything. The wrold population is expected to grow from 7 billion to 9 billion by 2050. By the end of the century the wrold population will be 11 billion people on earth. The crucial question is whether we should pour all our resources into mitigation – reducing our carbon emissions. According to scientists who study the climate there are other environmental problems; “we now face a global crises in land use and agriculture that could undermine the health, security, and sustainability of our civilization”.
Not only will this be catastrophic for the humans, but animal and plant life will suffer too (“Global Warming” 4, 10, Than 1-4). The oceans will become more polluted and warmer which will cause fish along with coral reefs will die (“Global Warming” 4). The heat will bring animals to extinction; their migration patterns will be altered, change their diet, and force them to live in different locations in order to find a suitable climate (Than 1). Crops have a very specific range of temperatures they should grow in order to maximize their yield, and if the earth is going to be above the temperature then crop yield will suffer. In recent years global warming has been on the rise. The importance of this issue is so that we as a nation can be aware of the drastic changes which are occurring rapidly around the world. Although there isn 't one set resolution to solve climate change, we must continue to carry out ways to put it to a halt. Some of the ways I believe we can cut this crisis is to stop polluting the manufacturing of toxic gases which is filling our environment with smog. If we all put our ideas and opinions in ways to prevent some causes of climate change, the world in which we live will be a better place.
