In the movie, “Good Will Hunting,” There is a boy named Will who has an eidetic memory. Everybody knows that he is a genius, and if they do not, then it will only be a matter of time before Will lets them know. It all starts out when Will solves a very hard mathematical equation. The professor who teaches him and does not want Will’s genius o go to waste. The professor saves Will from going to Jail on the conditions that Will receives therapy and will help him solve other math problems. It is very clear that Will has some issues that he goes through in his adolescent years. Many of the Psychological Issues that Will faces include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Inferiority Complex, Defense Mechanisms, and Attachment Disorder. It seems like …show more content…

This idea means that whoever had taken care of Will as a child affected his relationships later on in life. In an article called “Causes, Symptoms, and Effects of Attachment Disorders,” it states that “Undeveloped attachments may permanently damage a child’s growing brain and hurt their ability to establish future relationships. Additionally, it can lead to controlling, aggressive, or delinquent behaviors, trouble relating to peers, and other problems.” All of the abuse that Will had to go through in his childhood foster home made it hard for hi to have a good trusting relationship with anybody besides his small group of friends. Will was afraid of being abandoned and taken advantage of. As time goes by he eventually becomes close o Dr. Maguire who shares the same abusive past as himself. Opening up to Dr. Maguire took a long time for Will and they even h ad a few therapy sessions that they spent in complete silence while Will counted the seconds. Will thought it was dumb to get close to any women, all he hoped for was to get laid. Dr. Maguire explains to him that waking up next to a women and being completely happy is what life was all about. After that Will decides to give it a shot and becomes serious with Skylar, and even then he had a hard time becoming close with her. Near the end of the movie Will finds Dr. Maguire standing up for him and sees that somebody truly cares for him. Dr. Maguire tells Will over and over that all of the abuse he went through was not his fault, It becomes very emotional for the both of the ad they have it out. It ends with Will leaving the Doctor a note saying that he is “going to see about a girl.” Will goes to California with Skylar and they live happily ever
