WW11 - Atomic Bomb After enduring four years of war, the American citizens were prostrate, yet Japan refused to give up the fight. The atomic bomb terminated roughly 220,000 Japanese, which most of the harm was caused by the Enola Gay, which was a bomb dropped in the city of Hiroshima. According to critics, Truman’s decision to drop the bomb was a barbaric act and would have long-term consequences on the United States. It is said that the bombings of Japan saved both American lives and Japanese lives, therefore this act was not as inadequate as people believe it to be. The first atomic bomb was located in the city of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. Soon, a “mushroom cloud” would appear over the city, caused by the detonation of “Fat Man”, which was the second atomic weapon used against Japan. An estimated 39,000 - 80,000 died; half of these deaths occurred on the first day. As if this bombing was not befitting, a second atomic bomb, Enola Gay, was dropped on the city of Hiroshima. This would cease to 66,000 deaths out of a population of 255,000. Victims subsequently died due to severe burns and radiation sickness. Truman stated that this was the most difficult decision of his life. Truman made no attempt to warn the Japanese of any new weapons of mass destruction if the leadership of Japan refused the offer of their surrendering. As predicted, Japan refused the surrender. This would result in the Enola Gay bombing. This would also be assumed that the American Government was racist, that the American Government would never carry out such an act on white people.
