Women in Combat Today's nation faces many problems, one of the biggest problems is dis- crimination and rights. One of the main problems within this, is women being al- lowed to join the US armies and join the combat specialist in battle. This is a problem because many women believe that they can do the same jobs as men. All women will soon be allowed to join all types of combat throughout the nation, but this will cause many changes within the branches and problems within the system.

This issue has become one of the big issues over this year and in the article by the New York Times the author states that "... there ap- peared to be bipartisan endorsement for the decision, which was first reported by the Associated Press and CNN mid afternoon." (Peter Baker 10). In the be- ginning before this became an bipartisan issue many conservatives were mostly against the ideas while most liberals believed that women should be allowed to join the combat jobs. Many argue that women should not be doing a mans job, and that the pentagon and Defense Department made a bad decision because it is no place for a women. Others argued that women have a right to chose and make decision on how they wanted to live and if they wanted to go into com- bat, that they should be allowed to. Many argue that allowing women into to combat job would cause many problems, in all branches of the military. Most branches of the military like the marines corps explained that in the beginning it may seem as it might work, but in the near future they will have to change reg- ulations for women, even though they say they would not. This could possibly be one of the most important issues because it af- fects the United States military in many way. Many of the affects are two sided when it comes to women joining the military, that could effect the United States. One of these is that other armies could look at us as weaker armies be- cause we have more women, and they could feel more confident to start wars and attack us. The second side is that we would have more of variety of gender in the military and we would have more soldiers to create a larger, smarter mili- tary. When the next president enters the office, they should consider a better system for women joining the military and what they are still restricted on. Also they should consider having a idea in case of a draft that could lead to more problems if women are forced to go or not to go. All women should be able to join the military and do the combat jobs, but The next president should not change it because we still will deserve higher expectations from the people would would be a the front lines dealing with the the combat, and infantry that they have never got to do. Women beginning to be allowed to join the combat jobs are a amazing new achievement for the United States and its army, but they will be heavily modifying the rule and regulations of the problem.
