The idea of transhumanism—transcending above mankind, so to speak—is one coveted by many people. People have an innate desire to have a longer lifespan, superhuman capabilities, and superiority over their fellow beings. Are they willing to sacrifice their humanity, or at least the idea of humanity for these unnatural abilities? Transhumanism is not possible without redefining the word 'human'. Also, the idea of transhumanism is one that is ever-evolving. How can one achieve transcendence when the idea of transcendence keeps changing? I will use this information to explain how transhumanism is never fully achievable due to the fact that the standards and ideas keep changing. The article also went into the religious aspects of the idea which I will use to further build upon what information I have to strengthen my argument. His argument is more pro-transhumanism, and I will use his opposite viewspoint to get a better understanding so that I can counter the stance easier. This article brings in the morality issues with transhumanism and how some religious examples play in. It plays with the idea that transhumanism has already been achieved by religious leaders and prophets. I will use this source to compare these religious aspects to what society thinks of transhumanism and what it means for both of them. This source focuses on the idea that superhumanism is impossible without redefining the word 'human'. I will use this reference heavily when I am discussing this aspect of the argument.
