The Harvard Health Center revealed that 25,000 obesity related American deaths are from diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer were somehow connected to sugar sweetened drinks. We need to warn soda drinkers about what they are getting themselves into by drinking sodas. That is why warning labels are needed. Too much sugar causes vast amounts of health problems ranging from just an upset stomach to obesity or diabetes. Sugary drinks are also very addictive, and they are among one of the biggest sources of added sugar. Warning labels on sugary drinks could save lives. First, sugar can cause a great deal of health problems. Lots of sugar can turn your liver into a grotesque lump of scar tissue. Sugar also leads to obesity. The great effect of sugar can put you at risk for heart disease or diabetes. According to Dr. Robert Lustig, who is a pediatrician and expert on how sugar affects the body, calls sugar poison. If you don’t want health problems, you better stay away from sugar. Secondly, sugar is very addictive. The more sugar you eat, the more sugar your body wants. On average, most Americans are only supposed to have four to nine teaspoons of sugar a day, but today Americans eat more than twenty two teaspoons. People do not realize that if you are eating that much sugar a day, on average you are eating seventy seven pounds of sugar a year! One twelve ounce soda has about eight teaspoons of sugar, which is very close to the average you're supposed to eat. Also, the body absorbs the sugar in liquids faster than sugar in solid foods. For instance, when you chug down a bottle of soda, you send a truckload of fructose straight to your liver, and then some of that fructose turns into fat, which can build up in your liver.
