Strictly regulated guns is our only option, mostly because the amount of gun-related deaths are increasing. There is no reason an ordinary person should be walking around the street with a gun, especially if they have no license or certification. The government needs to have a better system and regulation on where guns are being sold and to who they are selling them to. Guns are a huge issue because “The United States has far more gun ownership than any other developed countries, and far more gun violence” (Text 1 Lines 62-63) Even the “ Democrats, including President Obama, emphasize the need to address America’s problems with guns.” (Text 2 Lines 10-11). So if the president sees we have a problem with guns, then we do. All this violence and deaths can stop if we just had stricter laws. Terrorism suspects were even able to buy guns in the United States. Now that says a lot because it was over 2,000 of the terrorism suspects that had legally bought a gun (Text 2 Lines 30-32). The F.B.I does have a database that license gun dealers can do a background check to see if the customer is prohibited from having a gun, but the only problem is “the system has major holes in it, among them incomplete listings of criminal cases.” (Text 1 Lines 14-15).
