Many hear the terms Sociopath or Psychopath more than once in a lifetime. Often these phrases get thrown around without people knowing what they actually mean. A sociopath is, simply put, a person with a personality disorder that often shows itself with extreme antisocial behavior, and an extremely weak conscience. A psychopath however, is a person who is suffering from a serious mental disorder that is shown in extreme acts of violence and abnormal social behaviours. Psychopaths lack a conscience, and they also lack remorse, guilt, and the like. There is huge controversy around whether they are humane or not. Psychopaths and Sociopaths are humane because they are ‘made ', and they can eventually connect back to their emotions later in life. …show more content…

People believe that you are born as a psychopath or a sociopath and that you cannot develop those necessary traits. While psychopaths and sociopaths believe that the time they were ‘born’, or suddenly felt as though they knew who they were supposed to be, is the time that they suddenly had "control of reactive aggression and [had] “acquired sociopathy”"(Blair) and psychopathy is the actual time they were born in life, that just is not the case. Over time, with an “impaired mind or traumatic, life changing event” (Blair), and even some genetic factors at times, one can ‘become’ a psychopath or sociopath. Gradually, “your neighbors, your colleagues, maybe even family members and loved ones"(Headlee) can acquire the traits necessary to be considered a psychopath or sociopath. However, doctors are very careful when using the terms psychopath and sociopath. When using the terms psychopath and sociopath, the patients, or relatives of the patients, immediately assume the worst; which is, the person is a killer. While there is no cure for these conditions, it is possible to lose some of the more common traits of psychopathy and sociopathy later in life. Which brings me to my next piece of
