Just fair warning but this paper will probably contain more questions than answers, not just because I don’t fully understand my own thoughts on “original sin” but also because I want you to make your own decision. I have thoughts on original sin and my own beliefs but that doesn’t mean that I am correct, these are my thoughts and the questions that I think about when I talk about original sin. I don’t want to just tell you why I am right but want you to be able to decide for yourself whether original sin does exist or if the saying was just made by man. Everyone is guilty of sin, a child is guilty of sin just as in the last paragraph if a child is playing with their mothers phone when the mom had told him or her not to then that child is sinning because he or she is disobeying their parent. 1 Corinthians 13:11 say, “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.” That passage alone shows that children do not even think the same way adults do, yes they may know about some right and wrongs. But does that mean that they are accountable for their sins? This passage could show that maybe children aren’t accountable for their sins or like when an adult asks a child why they disobeyed they usually say that they don’t know why they did. The author of The Christian Nurture of Children through the second and third Centuries, puts it like this; “During the second and third centuries Children were described far more frequently as innocent than as sinful.” (pg. 65) Children perhaps are born innocent and maybe that is because they really do not understand what sin is up until they reach the point of
