Antigone and Socrates are the two key characters whose actions are more or less responsible for how the story turnout. Both the characters were right in their place as they were obeying the law but they were obeying the law of gods rather than the laws of people. According to Antigone Gods dishonour those who would not properly bury their own kin and for her the law of the gods was above the laws of the people. For Socrates all he was doing was making sure that God’s oracle was right in calling him the wisest and for this he examined those who considered themselves the wisest and this caused the rift between him and others.
In Antigone’s case she was going against the law of her King by burying his brother but for her not doing so would bring dishonour to her in eyes of the gods and as she said “I would not risk the punishment of the gods in fear of any man.” Antigone was doing what she knew was morally correct and as we witnessed in the end she was right and …show more content…

In life if a person goes up against the higher authority , even if he believes what he is doing is correct and necessary , there are chances that the person will get punished (more frequently in earlier times than now). Even Socrates said “A man who really fights for justice must lead a private, not a public, life if he is to survive for even a short time.” People want to hear good things only and if a person is bold enough to speak the truth, which is often bitter, he is not liked by others. That person is doing the correct thing by bringing the truth out in open but simply because majority/the powerful think it’s not right s/he will get
