Disaster Relief: Hurricanes Annotated Bibliography 2017 was a record breaking year for hurricanes. Victims of hurricane Harvey, hurricane Maria and hurricane Irma are still struggling. Many people are unaware of the impacts of these hurricanes and how much help is needed. Shelters are over capacitated, victims are still without a home and help is still needed. The web page also holds data on previous hurricanes along with other general facts and information on hurricanes. One of the tabs within this web page gives multiple educational resources on hurricanes. Some of educational resources are how to prepare for a hurricane and how to handle a hurricane after it occurs. This information will be important to explain to the audience, because it explains some of the frightening tips and protocols people have to follow before the help of hurricane relief organizations. Another one of the many tools this web page has is day by day, hour by hour summaries of each hurricane and tropical storm. Having all this information of each day and hour of the storm will provide enough information to display how much damage occurred during the hurricanes. The NHC works with the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) to provide scientific predictions and analyses for upcoming hurricanes. They have joined forces with multiple credible groups to provide all other educational resources. The NHC’s web page is a federal government website, and therefore, is a credible source. Horner, M.
