Anna in the tropic was an interesting play. In my opinion the paly was really well done and interpreted. The acting in my opinion was very good. The actress who stood out to me was Tina A. Burkhalter (Ofelia-the mother) she was really in character and she had charisma. Tina was an effective character because she was a strong mother and hardworking in the factory. Tina Burkhalter made the audience have a good laugh several times throughout the play. The second actor who stood out to me was Wyn Moreno (Juan Julian- lector). Wyn did a good job as Juan Julian, who captivated the workers in the factory to a different place in Germany. Wyn seemed very comfortable up stage with a loud tone of voice and was really into character.
The director of Anna In The Tropics Fidel Gomez did a good job in the casting of the play. The cast seemed like they would be Cuban Americans, some of the actors by there names and some of their Spanish lines. For example, actors like Miguel S. Violence occurred throughout the whole play. In the beginning it started with the brother gambling with cockfighting. Santiago (Miguel S. Torres) was really ambitious in winning the cockfighting and borrowed money and from his brother Cheche (Joseph Daniel Zavala). There was fighting between the two brothers due to the money. The other form of violence was when Cheche takes Marcela (Lauren Villalobos). Thirdly, the tragic last part of the play when Cheche shots Juan Julian (Wyn Moreno) . The second theme would be love, Conchita (Shellie Sterling) had an affair with the lector. I don’t think she loved him but was not having the best marriage with Palomo (Eric Steven Flores) and she was attracted to the Juan Julian. Conchita fell in love with the story of Anna Caralina. Cosi uses a wide range of Dramatic elements, all through-out the play. This play particularly highlights The Tension, the Role and the way the characters portray their selves on stage. The use of these techniques allows the audience to accept more readily the intent of the play. It draws everyone into a world, that in many ways is foreign to us, but the human interaction, with the characters, makes it seem more real.
As the play opens, there is much merrymaking and festivity in preparation for the play. The sheer happiness of all of the colorful characters is transferred to the reader almost instantly. The mood is portrayed very well as being light and bubbly, an overall good feeling. The theme of this play is inner beauty and outer beauty. In the beginning of Cyrano de Bergerac, it seems like the theme focuses heavily on outer beauty. As you continue to read on, the play actually puts more emphasis in inner beauty. Symbolism is very important in this play. The letters written by Cyrano symbolizes Cyrano’s inner beauty because what you write comes from your soul which is shaped by your personality. Cyrano’s nose symbolizes his ugliness and his insecurity. I really enjoyed The University of Alabama’s version of The Dining Room. It was one of the best plays I’ve ever seen, and I don’t really like plays. The actors, director, and production crew did a very good job of bringing everything together. Everything was on time, the lighting was great, the actors were great, and the entire show was phenomenal. However, out the entire cast one person in particular stood out the most to me. Her name was Mary Catherine Waltman and she played Grace, Peggy, and Sarah which were some of my favorite characters.

The theme of the play has to do with the way that life is an endless cycle. You're born, you have some happy times, you have some bad times, and then you die. As the years pass by, everything seems to change. But all in all there is little change. The sun always rises in the early morning, and sets in the evening. The seasons always rotate like they always have. The birds are always chirping. And there is always somebody that has life a little bit worse than your own.
The protagonist: Cyrano and the rest of the major characters: Christian, and Roxane. Cyrano was a man of many talents, he was a great poet, and a remarkable sword fighter, in the quote, “He’s an extraordinary man, isn’t he? The most delightful man under the sun” PG. 18, it conveys how Cyrano is even admired by those around him. However, Cyrano always lived by his idea in self-worth, Cyrano is very intelligent and skilled, but he lacks in self confidence which is revealed in the quote, “My friend, I have bad moments now and then, feeling myself so ugly, all alone….” PG.50. In addition to Cyrano we have Christian, the other half of Cyrano or can also be seen as Cyrano’s “outer beauty”. Christian is a handsome man who is also in love with Roxane but does not have the intelligence and courage to speak to her as seen in the quote, “I may have a certain quick, soldiery wit, but with women I’m always at a loss for anything to say.”PG.101. After meeting Christian, Cyrano uses this coincidence to help Christian by being his “conscience” or “inner beauty”, while Christian is Cyrano’s “outer beauty”. Furthermore we have Roxane, the beautiful and intelligent Roxane, whom almost everyone is in love with. As far as acting, the performers were able to convey the feelings they needed to. However, some characters such as Ol' Cap'n played by Dick Lambert and Luttibelle played by April Curry, seemed more committed and engaging in their roles than others. A crucial factor in April Curry portraying her role so well was her vocal talent far exceeded that of any of the other major performers. She had an amazing voice that I was dazzled by from curtain up to down and left me craving for more. This almost compensated for my disappointment when it came to the ensemble singing to the soundtrack. Many performers were dependent on the cd and were not confident as to when to begin or stop singing, which dampered many moments of the performers. Another element of acting that I enjoyed was the exaggerated use of cooning throughout the duration of the performance that brought characters to life, and enabled certain moments to seem real.
There is a large cast of characters including the priest Sarastro (a very serious, proselytizing basso), the Queen of the Night (a mean, angry, scheming coloratura), and her daughter, the beautiful and courageous Pamina. There is the handsome hero, Tamino, on the quintessential road trip, and his cohort in misadventure, the bird seller, Papageno. Papageno ultimately finds his Papagena (who starts out disguised as a crone), Tamino ultimately wins Pamina, Sarastro presumably wins a passle of converts, and everyone goes home humming the catchy Mozart melodies. It is all presented in a plot complicated by a dragon, a threesome of warbling ladies in service to the Queen of the Night, another threesome of boy-angels, even a bully - Monostatos, guard for the Queen. It is lightened by such elements as locked lips, charmed animals, and, of course, a magic flute.
When Anna Close is first introduced in the novel, As We Are Now she is referred to as Mrs. Close. From what I gather, this was to represent a sort of formality between her and Caro because they were not yet acquainted. Not only this, but it also seems that it was Harriet and Rose's way of manipulating Caro to fear the worst out of Harriet's replacement. Caro knew better than to expect someone who would actually care for her, because of this she was surprised beyond belief when she met Anna.

The majority of the plot lines depend on the disguise. Without it, the world would be a disaster. main theme of the play would be the gulling of Malvolio. In a play where most of The characters fall in love with each other, blind to the gender and true identity of the objects of their desires, a disguise like Viola's becomes the center of the action, and causes almost all the of the important aspects of the play. God calls death to summon those who have failed to live the life of truth and spiritual being on earth and everyman is one of them, we find everyman taking a journey of change that is why in the play we have characters like goods, confession and knowledge because knowledge shows everyman how he has and also how to sinned. This shows that the things which where once precious to him and also the things that led him to sin. Darkness and light, in the play we find the character battling with his deeds to be a better creature as it begins he encounters people who lead him up to a wrong path but because it is said that light will always conquer the darkness as the show proceeds everyman is saved by good deeds and knowledge.
