Parwen Huseyin GOVT 2305 S19 Professor Hershenberg April 5 2016 Civil Rights Leader Essay Angelina Jolie is known to be one of the most powerful and influential people in the American entertainment industry, as well as the world’s most beautiful woman. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, is 40 years old and is married to Brad Pitt. She is an American actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian. Jolie has received an Academy Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and a Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. She started her film career as a child when she Her fearless leadership and willingness to help others is what inspired me to want to be like her. Angelina has changed lots of lives. At one point no one would have thought to put Angelina Jolie and role model in the same sentence. Like every individual she has changed her life and has changed the life of others while in the process. She has showed that a marriage like hers can last and she will do everything she can to make it last and give her children everything they need. She also does endless humanitarian trips all over the world. She goes around helping people. One thing that stood out to me is she went to Northern Iraq, Kurdistan where my family was born and raised in and helped these individuals in one of the hardest times they have ever faced. She is helping in every way she can to by providing food, shelter, and homes. Most importantly she is helping children whose mothers and fathers have been murdered, to find a place that they can call home and a place they can feel safe. Angelina has been a huge impact on my life because she has helped everyone around the world and one day I would like to do the same. Most importantly she has helped my people when they have been at their lowest and is still continuing to help people every day. I am Kurdish and it was such an amazing feeling to see Angelina Jolie in Kurdistan, meeting the refugees and trying to help them out. My parents were born and raised in Kurdistan. They had to run away from Saddam Hussein because he was bombing their homes and throwing chemicals at them. When my parents had the opportunity to come to America they didn’t hesitate. They wanted to come as fast as they could but they were sad to leave some of their loved ones behind.
