The Cats musical transforms musical theater telling the story of a tribe of cats that are called “The Jellicle Cats,” and at night they sing “The Jellicle choice.” During the musical, in each scene they decide which cat will ascend to the Heavenside Layer and come back to a new life. The Jellicle Cats are seen as a type of feline represented commonly as nocturnal black-and-white cats, which means that they move and are awake all night. Throughout the musical, the Jellicle Cats possessed many kinds of coat-patterns, diverse personalities and individual talents. The grouping characters in the musical are very fluid with non-specific roles. No cats were named during the performance, but the cats later were developed into different characters with their own costume designs and also their own personalities.
