Who are Angel’s real parents? Angel is portrayed as a strange and confused character from the beginning, being raised by a single mother. She is always shown to be frustrated about how he is living his life, mainly because he is not seeing his priest for life guidance. Angel’s Mother is forcefully trying to change her son’s ways without really trying to figure out what his problem is. Angel is clearly afraid to admit his sexuality to his mother. When Angel agrees to go back to the church his mom is quick to emphasize the prayer to Angel and you can see the uncomforting look on his face. Angel’s issues and confusion begins with his unloving mother that clearly does not love hers son. Diego is clearly an important figure for Angel, it’s almost as if he sees a father figure in him that is going to teach him how to be a man. When Diego is teaching the class how to kill a bull, you can see how uncomfortable Angel feels. Throughout the film it is revealed that Angel is squeamish when it comes to seeing blood. This is a big factor later in the movie. Angel is so very determined to get his approval after the talk they had, Angel is inspired to be like Diego. Like Diego, Angel is a strange person and has weird ways of dealing with his issues and he thinks that raping Eva will prove …show more content…

Having this tie with his newfound parents leaves him no choice but to take the fault for these murders, because he loves them in a way he has never loved his other parents before. The detective is persistent on finding the real killer of the recent murders, and knows that Angel is hiding something, and he is also starting to put together the emotional connection between Diego, Maria, Angel; he tells Maria that she seems to be a little too emotional about this case. Angels as an article of faith have become an unshakeable part of our society. One in every ten popular songs involves angels in some way (Freeman 2).
