Ng Sek San is a famous Malaysian landscape architect and has design many beautiful and amazing building in Malaysia such as hotel, condominium, township and institution too. Ng Sek San was a postgraduate diploma of landscape architecture at Lincoln University, Canterbury, New Zealand in 1985. Besides that, he also took Bachelor of Civil Engineering at University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand in 1983 before he pursue in landscape architecture. Ng Sek San is an experience person which he is a landscape architect of Boffa Miskell Partners in New Zealand from 1986 until 1991. Metal stilts, timber slits and concrete stilts are strategically applied in different sheds according to the particular design based on various function. In addition, stilts are not only used as a supportive structure of the sheds, but they also highlight the vertically in reference with the surround trees and blends in to the site. These vertical stilts help in enhancing the visual adaption by camouflaging the sheds within the forest.
Glass is one of the modest materials used in today’s building which also used in Sekeping Serendah Retreat to enrich the concept and particularly inviting the accent of nature visually. Futhermore, other than the transparent feature of glass, other design strategy applied with the usage of reflection. The view of reflection deepen the sense of being one with nature and forget about the built structure.
Local materials used in Sekeping Serendah Retreat are timber, metal, mud, glass and a lot exposed concrete and brickwork which are intentionally chosen and blend in with the context for being close nature.
