Eco footprint My current ecological footprint is around 2.8 global hectares and if everyone adapts my lifestyle, we would require a generative capacity of 1.6 planets each year. My ecological footprint is largest in the area of mobility and shelter (Global Footprint Network, 2016). I got really amazed with the results because I saw many people with more expensive lifestyle. I am also worried about the fact that I am misusing the resources and creating damage to the ecosystem. In my opinion the three action that I should take to reduce my footprint are
• Use the public transportation system instead of my car when I am going alone to a place
• Shift to a smaller house
• Change my eating hobbits

A strongly sustainable business creates positive environmental, social and economic value throughout its value chain and network and creating the possibility that human and other forms of life in the nature can co-exist in the planet forever (Upward,2014, 8:17). In the traditional model of business, people believe that the primary aim of business is to create financial profits but those who follow strong sustainability model understands that the financial system is something which the society created and the society has far more concerns than just economy and the society is entirely depend on the environmental factors like clean air, water and fertile soil. In the absence of free air, water and soil, the society will go bankrupt and all of us will be out of business (Ayres, 2014, para …show more content…
So it is always better to find a middle path between the two models. To do that, we need to classify natural resources into renewable and non- renewable and follow the strong from of sustainability when using non-renewable sources and use the week form when using renewable natural resources.
Question 3 My world view is aligned with strong sustainability because I believe that it is our responsibility to preserve the nature for the future generations. The week sustainability models essentially results in the degradation of the ecosystem and it pose a threat to our own existence on earth. But most of the business model exists today is based on the profit maximisation model. But these models which neglects the ecological consequences and the unintended consequences of their business decisions is not viable in the long term. So in the real world there is always a trade-off between the above two
A business should make sure its methods of production are not negatively affecting its employees and that all the people in the business are happy and willing to work. Also, a business should make sure that its methods of production are not producing any waste on land or water or air pollution, for these negatively affect society. A business that cares about it’s influence on the environment, and its consumers is bound to make a difference. For example: General Mills wants to reduce the amount of energy it uses. In order to do this, they had energy monitors installed into some of their equipment in one of their manufacturing plants. The result: General Mills saved around six hundred thousand dollars (James). Profit can be obtained faster by a business that is looked upon as a positive influence on the environment and its employees. Overall, a business should be careful about how it produces its products and think about society’s health before it makes a decision, for if it doesn’t, the liability for damage is a much greater price to
Sustainable living to reduce your personal footprint (n.d.). In WWF Global. Retrieved May 4, 2014, from
One starting point to reducing the amount of greenhouse gases that you release is to find your carbon footprint. The carbon
Have you ever stopped to take a look at your surrounding environment and see lots of grass and open space? Or maybe you live in an industrial city and see smog and lots of factories and buildings being built. Do you ever stop and consider the pollution in your environment and how you could be contributing to it. Today people seem to be much more concerned about their natural environment and have taken various steps to try and reduce their carbon footprints. Examples of this are that many of us choose to buy a more fuel efficient vehicle to drive back and forth to work every day or that more people today take the time to separate recyclables from actual trash. Even the government who usually only seems to want our money has
There is no hesitation when it comes to whether humans impact the global environment. However, it is questioned in whether human’s ecological footprint is either negatively or positively impacting. In clear perspective, humans share from both sides and their ecological footprint is noted towards whether it will benefit or harm the environment around them. Topics such as overpopulation, pollution, biomagnification, and deforestation are all human impacted and can harm the environment, but some include benefits into helping the world around us with solutions to their problems.
A personal ecological footprint, also known as an eco-footprint, is the demand that an individual person puts on the Earth’s natural resources; such as land, ocean, and the waste that the individual produces. A person’s consumption of the Earth’s resources and how that individual impacts the earth help to create a personal eco-footprint calculation. At http://myfootprint.org/, I calculated my personal ecological footprint and discovered my impact on the Earth’s resources and its ecosystem. The ecological footprint quiz results were that if everyone on the planet lived my lifestyle we would need 3.86 Earth’s to sustain the world’s population.

Human existence has grown much over the years. There are 7.1 billion homosapiens on this planet recorded since 2013. We have advanced in technology, food production, and modern medicine. Our ecological footprint has a part to play in the way our natural ecosystem will flourish. Human presence on this earth can either make or break the natural world. I believe that the cause for global warming is man made.
The Time for Change Organisation, best defines the term “carbon footprint” as “The total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2).”
Every day the world around us is changing ever so slightly in many different ways. Humans can affect the environment through our day to day lifestyle without even noticing the change. An ecological footprint is a measurement of how much a person uses the environment around them to live their life. This given measurement can help one to see their impact on the earth. It is an important tool to understand what actually a human does to change the habitat near them. My ecological footprint results gave me a perspective of how my daily life can impact the world I live in, as well as, how I as an individual can change my actions to make less waste on earth. It is also useful for each person to know their own ecological footprint since no one live
First of all, the difference is in the facility or convenience. Travelling on public transport could be a waste of time due to waiting for the bus especially in the rush hours’ time. It is quite hard to wait for a bus and whenever there is an urgent work and you have to reach somewhere in a hurry, you might get late due to waiting for a long period. In contrast to traveling on public transportation, driving your own car is more convenient and reliable. People can start their car and can go to anywhere that want without any wait or suffering from different kinds of problems. Going to an event or meeting can be helpful in your own car as compare to public transport as it can affect your personality.
The sustainability of the ecosystems on which the global economy depends must be guaranteed. And the economic partners must be satisfied that the basis of exchange is equitable” (World). This quote demonstrates the complexities of sustainability. Another thing corporations should focus on when trying to be sustainable is their environmental impact.
Sustainability simply defined to me as balancing act between the development of sustainability is necessary for both planet Earth and humans to survive. This is reinforced in the World Commission on Environment and Development report (1987) that sustainable development must meet the needs of the present without compromising the well-being of future generations”. The Earth Charter Organization widened the idea of sustainability to respect for a culture of peace, universal human rights, nature, and economic justice (What is sustainability?, n.d.).
Compared to national averages, my current carbon footprint is quite large. In fact, based on the data from 2014, it is 15.8 metric tons more than the national average(Europa). When the scope is widened to include the whole world, my current emissions seem even worse. The world average is 4.936, which is significantly less than my 32.30 metric tons of emissions (Europa). However, if I adjust my habits and lifestyle as I hope to in the next five years, my emissions will be below the national average and only slightly above the world
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is assessment of impacts on the environment due to proposed activity and finding ways to mitigate the environmental impacts.
