Summary: This book is about a polar bear, Cold Paws, who is constantly cold and can never warm up until he finds a friend who helps him to overcome his cold feelings. Cold Paws lives in the land of snow and is lonely until he meets Hannah who helps him to remove the cold feeling from his body. It is a picture book. 2.3 Illustrations: This book makes use of illustrations on each page and it makes use of light colours such as whites and blues which are colours which can represent cold weather and Hannah (who helps Cold Paws recover from the cold), wears red which is a warm colour. Red can represent fire which is warm and hot and thus also linking up to the context of the book. 3. Criteria of a good children’s book Story – the story is simple and interesting and it will keep the children interested. The story also has an emotional element to it which can affect the child in a positive manner. Characters – For a young age group, the characters are appropriate as there are only two main characters and therefore the children will not lose interest in the story because there are too many characters.
