Ethnic identity is very complex to summarize because it varies from person to person. In this country most people consider themselves to be ethnically diverse however most us still identify as American but strictly speaking as an ancestral identification we are a mix of many cultures and ethnic groups. Ethnic identification is very instable because people choose or reject certain aspects of their ethnic heritage maybe because they don’t feel identified or they don’t feel the need to be a part of a certain ethnic group because of political or religious reasons.
