The idea is that the reality lies beyond everything we have known so far

Imagine a cave with people filled in it. These people are chained that hard they can’t even move. While they are chained they are looking at a wall. Behind them there is an exit which leads to freedom. Near the exit there is fire burning so that light falls in the cave. The light shines from behind on the wall so the prisoners see only a reflection of the light. They can neither see the others nor the exit, the wall is the only observable object. Outside, so behind the fire, there is raised walkway where people are passing by. Sometimes these people carry with them figures or puppets, moving them around or speaking with them. Do you believe he could juxtapose the reality and the illusion? No he could not I go even further and claim the prisoner sees the outside world as illusion and the cave as reality. But later on he will be illuminated and return to cave to tell the other all they have seen and lived is a great lie. But little does the illumined one know, being rejected and labeled as liar by the other prisoners.
This allegory, by Plato, states everything we observe in this world is a reflection of a higher and greater reality. We merely sense the shadows while somewhere upon us, beyond our imaginations, the reality exits. All these issues, that we are aware of, mirror the true existence. Every item we have down her is a simulacrum of a greater idea, ideology or concept. Plato goes a step further and mentions the actuality has to be reported to the humanity. Every individual has the right to know the reality even if resistance is exercised by a few.
There are several other possibilities to define reality as other philosophes do. Many philosophes would be of the mind that these concepts beyond our understanding does not even exist. We design and structure our own reality, and all that is present to us is the true
