Since 9/11, there have been 25,000 airport security breaches. And those are the breaches the TSA have learned about and have stopped. There have been thousands of breaches that haven’t been put to a halt, and our airports have taken a hit because of it. Obviously, airports need some more or new security systems. Although there have been many advancements with airport security, it might discourage people from flying due to the new ideas they have to protect the customers. Because of the many rifts, the airports need to increase the quality and quantity of airport security to prevent issues like these from happening again.

It might be as simple as an authorized car driving into the runway, but could be as serious as an external car preventing a take-off. A runway incurision is an incident where an unauthorized aircraft, vehicle or person is on a runway. Along with runway incursions being a threat, security breaches are also bad for the airport. These events are very serious, causing flights to be delayed and airports to be shut down. There have been many ideas for security measures that could be taken to improve our airports. One idea is to install CheckVideo cameras. The camera would automatically monitor exit lanes and would instantly alert security in case of breach. This would allow them to quickly identify the source of the breach and stop it. Another solution would be the NICE Runway and Taxiway Intrusion Detection System. According to the NICE website, "the NICE system integrates existing and third-party long-range smart surveillance cameras enabled with outdoor-ready intelligent video analytics, radar, vehicle tracking and GPS solutions to pro actively identify breaches, verify and track them." To sum that up, the NICE system uses GPS and video cameras to monitor the airport. In the event of a breach, it would alert security so they could stop the breach.
