The two different acts of aviation I will be discussing are The Airmail Act of 1925 (Kelly Act) and The Air Commerce Act of 1926. The Air Mail Act of 1925 (Kelly Act) was the first major piece of legislation created by the congress back in 1925. The main issue that led to the creation of The Kelly Act was the encouragement from the government to promote commercial aviation as well as allowing private carriers to bid for government mail contracts. According to AvStop.com, an online aviation magazine, “This [Kelly Act] was the first major piece of legislation created by Congress in 1925 that would affect the aviation industry. In essence, this act authorized the awarding of government mail contracts to private carriers, established the rates 1). The purpose of The Air Commerce Act is to establish rules, laws, and regulations regarding the field of aviation in order to ensure a safe environment for flying. Some examples are the creation of the regulations that guide aircraft separation in altitude, and developing navigational aids etc. The importance of Air Commerce Act in 1926 is clearly seen as it laid out a solid fundamental concept of flight regulations in order to guarantee safety. The navigational aids created under this act significantly assisted pilots in the air in knowing their location. The aviation regulations and navigational aids nowadays are all improved from the basics in 1926 under this act, without the original concept back then, we will never enjoy the safe air travel now. The Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) that are being used now in aviation is also drafted according to the Civil Air Regulations (CARs) that was created under the Air Commerce Act; the importance of Air Commerce Act in developing commercial aviation is simply vital, helping in laying out all the rules and guidelines that should be

According to Lindbergh, a single-engine plane, rather than a multiengine plane increased the chance of success. His theory was the less weight, the more fuel, the greater range. The experts would say that a solo flight across the Atlantic was simply suicide. The burden on the pilot was considered too great—he would have to stay awake for over thirty hours, enduring constant stresses. Immediately, Lindbergh began searching for the right plane at the right price. He contacted a number of aircraft companies. Some did not respond and some turned him down. Things were not looking good for Lindbergh. In early February 1927, the Ryan Airlines Corporation of San Diego, California, had responded within twenty-four hours of receiving Lindbergh’s telegram regarding a plane for his proposed transatlantic flight. Yes, they could produce a plane that could fly nonstop from New York to Paris. It would cost $6,000 not including the engine, and would take three months to build. The Ryan workers worked on the Spirit of St. Louis morning, noon, and night, seven days a week. Voluntary overtime became a normal operating procedure, and work on most other planes had nearly stopped. After meeting with the company’s president, they decided to modify an existing Ryan model by outfitting the plane with extra fuel tanks and increasing the wing area, thus would give the plane a maximum range of 4,000 miles, more than enough to reach Paris.
