Adele Adkins is a singer and songwriter from London, England. The genre of music that Ms. Adkins produce is R&B mixed with soul and pop. In addition, Ms. Adkins is under the labels XL and Columbia Records which has artists such as Beyoncé, David Bowie, John Legend, and more artists. Ms. Adkins began her career with singing at a young age and continuing that after schooling. She began to rise with her song “Someone Like You” and “Rolling in the Deep” which both became number one on Billboard Hot 100. Another song that became popular by Ms. Adkins is “Hello.” ‘Hello” was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and in many different countries. In addition, the music video became viral on Youtube which has over 1.9 billion views. During the 59th annual Grammy Awards, Adele won five Grammys with her song “Hello” winning record of the year, best pop solo performance, and song of the year. Ms. Adkin’s direct musical influences for “Hello” is the soul/piano ballad genre as well as artists such as Ella Ftizgerald, Etta James, Mary J. Adkin’s musical influence is Ella Fitzegerald, Etta James, Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill, and Alicia Keys. Most of Ms. Adkin’s musical influence have a common thing with their music: they all have a soulful, jazz, and R&B type of music and they all have beautiful voices similar to Ms. Adkin’s singing. In “Hello,” Ms. Adkins’s voice resembles Alicia Key’s voice in her song “If I Ain’t Got You” because they both have a soulful voice when singing especially during the chorus. In addition, Ella Ftizgerald’s and Etta James’s songs start off with a strong voice that grabs on to the audience.
