From an early age, the importance of education was instilled within me. I was completely immersed in educational programs that were dedicated to educating young people who were interested in the medical field. By having a mother who is a registered nurse, I was constantly engulfed in dialogue centered around medicine and patient care. There was no space for other career possibilities in my life; my parents dedicated their time and energy to ensure that I partake in educational programs that ultimately led to the road of medicine. I was accepted into Hampton and granted an Achievement Scholarship, which I was able to maintain scholarship for the duration of my undergraduate career. Students that receive an Achievement Scholarship possessed at least a 3.5-grade point average in high school. In order to retain the scholarship, students must maintain a 3.3-grade point average at the conclusion of each school year. I aspire to become a health education specialist, interacting with the local community members in areas that involve sexually transmitted infections as well as child and maternal health. Eventually, I would like to travel internationally and work with populations suffering from the HIV/AIDS epidemic. I aspire to utilize my talent for forming connections with individuals that have diverse backgrounds. Once achieving an adequate amount of experience, I would like to further my education and strive for a Ph.D. degree in Public Health, specifically community health and prevention. Thus, I would be able to fulfill a goal of returning to academia as a professor or as an individual that oversees a community center dedicated to serving and educating the local population on healthcare
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
My most significant accomplishment would be placing second in the United States of America National FFA Agriscience Fair. Building up to this accomplishment was a challenge I never imagined to take on. It began with my FFA Chapter Agriscience Fair. I had decided against competing, but my adviser suggested I try. Pulling together a project, I placed second. This meant I would not compete at the state level. My adviser urged me to perform another project, under a new category, promising to take me to state. I worked hard and created a project in a week. Surprised, but true to his word, my adviser entered me into the State FFA Agriscience Fair. Upon my interview, I was nervous. I was shy and out of my comfort zone, but I gave my best effort. I
When notified by a few peers that they had seen my name on a nomination list for the National Honor Society, I was surprised and genuinely flattered. After researching more about what it was, it was an honor to be recognized for all I do every day in order to be successful in life. Every year I make sure I take every opportunity to get the best education I can, like all honors or AP classes. My freshman year, I took AP Biology and have to admit I was initially intimidated, but I knew if I applied myself and kept on going through the course it would benefit me in the long run and I ended with a B and was ecstatic when I discovered that I passed the AP test. Passing one AP course gave me the ambition to go ahead and take more, so next year I plan on taking three AP classes; Psychology, Environmental Science and U.S. History. Along with these, I am very set on dual enrolling. I’m willing to work as hard as I can in order to ensure my success.
College Education is of the utmost importance to me especially when competing with people in my age group. A college education is also one of the most costly obligations that one must do to gain success. In my academic career, I have gain many experiences that I may not have been able to experience had I not attended a post-secondary education. A college education has never been an option for me it was always instilled in my brain as an adolescent as a top priority. In my youth I was certain of my goals and aspirations, the person that I wanted to become and where I see myself in the future. Some people in my same age group with similar upbringing as mine had ne focus. Their prerogative was to acquire money in any way that they knew how. Their options including, dealing drugs or for women prostitution and or becoming a hair stylist. I was adamant that in my profession a college education was not only necessary as a requirement to obtain a law license but also there were no exit strategies. To elucidate I am speaking of secondary options such as a technical school. My peers often believed that my choice would change and I was just hoping that their state of minds too would alter. My dreams of becoming a lawyer was slowly approaching as I reached the age of 18. High school teachers of mine often attempted to sway me into a different direction since I was not as outspoken as my fellow classmates. However, I would inform them just as I have revealed to others that my dream is everlasting and my path is clear. From the time I was younger, I always dreamt of becoming a successful doctor. I came to the realization when I stumbled across the discovery channel at the age of seven. It fascinated me how the doctors worked efficiently everyday in hopes of helping people prosper in their lives. At that moment I knew that helping people would become a passion of mine. At a young age, I told myself I will go to medical school and become a medical doctor. It seemed like a simple task in my childish mind. Little did I know that the process would be much more complicated. I want to attend a university where I will be challenged academically and become independent in my studies. As well as being motivated to become the best version of myself. If I attend Rutgers University I will be able to fulfill all of these qualities that I want in my education. Rutgers University will help me gain more opportunities in the medical field and it will guarantee me a successful career.

From seeing my parents struggle, I made a promise to myself to further my education at a post secondary institution. Although everyone in the United States has the right to free primary education, the value is often overlooked. Education is the only way to change the world. She recommended that I should get a 504 plan. A 504 plan is “ is a plan developed to ensure that a child who has a disability identified under the law and is attending an elementary or secondary education in institution.” She also noticed that I’m its smart girl, just that I need extra help and I was fine with that. She is another person that has shape as a student that I’m today.
Education is neither linear nor static. It requires evolution and fluctuations. I received my undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at UNC Charlotte, and now it is time for a prime conversion to be made. Attending the Masters of Public Health program at UNC Charlotte would open the door for me to pursue my career aspirations in health care. Specifically, I am interested in epidemiological methods in community health. My ambition, perseverance, and work ethic have brought me to a high point, and enrolling in the Masters in Public Health program would raise that threshold even higher.

I believe that confidence and attitude play a major part in someone’s academic success, my favorite subject in school has always been English; because for as long as I can remember I have always been great at the subject. I would say that I had my most significant experiences with literacy at the age of ten, in the fifth grade. My teacher that year was really good with her teaching skills, and we wrote a lot of essays in that class. That is where I learned about essay formatting, how to write an introduction, and how to write numerous styles of essays. Listening often allows me to help others sort through their problems. Combining this trait with my love for working with children, I began mentoring children who had HIV/AIDs on a weekly basis beginning my freshman year. Whether I helped them with their homework or just listened to see how their day went, I tried my best to connect with my pupils. Thus, as a student in SPRINGH, I would be very happy to conduct HIV/AIDS research or anything related to pediatrics since I already interact with many of them on a long term basis. It would be interesting to be able to gain a social and an academic perspective so that I can have a more holistic view. Experiences such as these will shape the kind of educational and personal experiences I want out of the two and a half years I have left. Academic success is one of the most important things for students pursuing their studies in colleges and universities. Intellectual attributes and non-intellectual attributes both contribute and facilitate students ‘success (Burger, 2004). Non-cognitive skills are increasingly considered to be as important as cognitive skills and intelligence quotient (IQ) in determining successful performance in various domains including academic achievement and socio-emotional functioning as these skills play affect greatly the transition from adolescence to adulthood (Burger, 2004). The aim of this paper is to explore the relationships and influences of family socio-economic status (SES) and self-control on academic achievement; and introversion on socio-emotional functioning. Adolescence in this paper is considered in its broadest sense, comprising late-primary-school –age to undergraduate college-age populations i.e. approximately 10 to 25 years old.
My Journey to Academic Success I always considered myself an intelligent student, but I hardly ever applied myself. Growing up, I had straight A’s and was on the path to a successful education. That, however, is not how my educational path went. Around the beginning of my 11th grade year of high school, I decided to drop out and immediately enter the work force as a full-time employee. I liked the freedom and the benefits of bringing home money more than finishing my high school education.
