In the last couple of decades, people have been constantly arguing if abortion is right or wrong. Whether a woman has the right to end her pregnancy or not has been debated a great deal lately. But what about men in this situation should they also have the same right to end a pregnancy or does that right belong to women. The woman is the one who carries the baby and has to struggle through the pregnancy. On the other hand, the man will have to sacrifice heaps in order to raise the child as much as the woman will. In the short story “Hills Like White Elephants” by Ernest Hemingway this debate is shown first hand. The American feels trapped, he knows it’s the woman’s decision and tries to desperately talk her into an abortion. A majority of men feel the same way the American does; therefore, men should also have a say when a woman contemplates getting an abortion.
Abortion, the termination of a pregnancy, has been around since the dawn of men and has appeared in almost every culture. When the procedure is done right, it is one of the safest medical procedures there is. Throughout history though, numerous unsafe practices have been used for abortion. There is evidence that points to abortions being around since Ancient Egypt. The Ebers Papyrus, an Egypt medical tablet, shows signs of abortions as early as 1500 BC. The Roman Empire and Ancient Greece have also shown evidence of abortions during their time. But none of these ancient civilizations have had the same safe abortions we have today.
Most countries have developed their own rules and regulations when it comes to abortions. For example, in the United Kingdom abortion has been legal since 1967. The Abortion Act of 1967 made it legal for a woman to get an abortion with a doctor’...

Over the course of the last century, abortion in the Western hemisphere has become a largely controversial topic that affects every human being. In the United States, at current rates, one in three women will have had an abortion by the time they reach the age of 45. The questions surrounding the laws are of moral, social, and medical dilemmas that rely upon the most fundamental principles of ethics and philosophy. At the center of the argument is the not so clear cut lines dictating what life is, or is not, and where a fetus finds itself amongst its meaning. In an effort to answer the question, lawmakers are establishing public policies dictating what a woman may or may not do with regard to her reproductive rights.
Abortion may be one of the most controversial topics in America today. Abortion is defined as “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus” (cite dictionary). There are really only two sides on people’s opinion on abortion; pro-life which means abortion should be outlawed and pro-choice which means a woman should be able to decide whether she wants to keep her baby. Thousands of protests and riots have begun due to the fact pro-life activists believe abortion should become illegal. Both sides bring valid points to support their decision that could sway any person’s thoughts. The Roe v. Wade law has allowed abortion to be legal in the U.S since 1973 (Chittom & Newton, 2015). The law “gives women total control over first trimester abortions and grants state legislative control over second and third trimester abortions” (Chittom & Newton, 2015). Ever since the law was put in place, millions of people have tried to overturn it and still
... of their motives, many times it is what the woman truly wants so who are we to stand here and say what women should or should not do with their lives. After all, this country was founded on freedom. Taking the right of millions of women to choose what to do regarding abortion would akin to taking somebody’s identity away. In doing so, we are taking all that they have as unique individuals in society and leaving them with no choice. It can be agreed that social conflict is everlasting and ever-changing in our society and as long as choice is incorporated into our community, freedom will prevail.
In our society, there are many ethical dilemmas that we are faced with that are virtually impossible to solve. One of the most difficult and controversial issues that we are faced with is abortion. There are many strong arguments both for and against the right to have an abortion which are so complicated that it becomes impossible to resolve. The complexity of this issue lies in the different aspects of the argument. The essence of a person, rights, and who is entitled to these rights, are a few of the many aspects which are very difficult to define. There are also issues of what circumstances would justify abortion. Because the issue of abortion is virtually impossible to solve, all one can hope to do is understand the different aspects of the argument so that if he or she is faced with that issue in their own lives, they would be able to make educated and thoughtful decisions in dealing with it.
Abortion is a sensitive topic globally, culturally, and socially. There’s more than forty percent of women that end their pregnancy by abortion. In every nation of the world a woman makes the choice for an abortion. Abortion is a procedure that allows a woman to end the life from her pregnancy. There was a time when unsafe abortion was one of the many causes of maternal death. Unsafe abortion went down over the last two decades. When abortion became legal the tragic health issues for women reduced as well as death. There are thirty-six countries willing to allow a woman 's abortion if the female 's life is threatened. Those few countries make the exception depending on her situation of rape, incest, and fetal damage. Now abortion is known as a safe and legal way for a woman to end an unwanted pregnancy. In a woman’s first trimester
