A PAIR OF TICKETS A pair of tickets is written by Amy Tan, she is a Chinese American writer. She was born on 19th Feb., 1952. The story is set in China in 1944. The story is written from Jin Mei’s point of view. The characters are Jing Mei Woo, Canning Woo, Suyuan Woo, Aiyi, Lindo, Chwun Yu, Chwun Hwa, and Mei Ching. The story begin when Jing Mei is on the train with her father and they are on their way to China to see her long lost twin step sisters which will fulfill Suyuan’s dreams. In china their first stop is at Guangzhou to meet Jin Mei’s grand aunt. The old woman and her family came to the train station and gave them a warm welcome. Jin Mei is happy with the way they treated them and she quickly make friends with her cousins and took pictures with them. …show more content…

During the war Suyuan walk for days, she was very weak and in pain and she think she cannot move on; she decide to keep the children under someone’s care but nobody is willing to help her. She put some valuable jewelry and money under the babies cloth and she leave them by the road side to go in search of food but she collapse on the way and when she regained consciousness she find herself in the truck filled with missionaries without her babies. Later, she met Canning Woo they get married, but when they return to china they didn’t find the twin. Some poor couple found the twin lying on the side of the road so they took them and takes care of them. They have been trying to find the children’s parent but they were not successful. They find the children’s parent after Suyuan’s death. Her father also told her that her name has a special meaning; her name means that she is a younger sister. Her mother chose that name so that she can be part of her
