Recommended: How can a person overcome fear essay

Have you ever tried something new and been totally scared but excited all at the same time? I have but when I tried something new I thought I was going to be seriously injured, but I had to stay calm.
Today I was going to ride a horse by myself! For the first time ever. No one was going to hold on to the lead rope, no one was going to be up in the saddle with me, and no one was going to help me. I was doing it by myself for the first time ever. I was terrified to do it but at the same time I was full of excitement. The thing I was worried about was I didn't fully trust the horse, Pokey, I was riding. I thought one wrong move and I could be thrown off in two seconds.

The blanket was brown and black and had wool on the bottom. When I approached Pokey with the blanket she jumped up and started to neigh out of control. Jeremy boosts me up into the saddle, and the leather was soft and a little worn out. When Jeremy was leading me out to the dusty arena I started shaking like a chihuahua, but I didn´t let Jeremy see me tremble.
¨Okay, I'm going to let and go grab Sophie,¨ Jeremy said. ¨You be careful.¨
¨Okay,¨ I muttered when he let go of the reins and walked away.
I just sat there, I didn´t kick her, didn't make her move, I was to scared. I had been waiting to ride a horse by myself for months, and now they were finally letting me do it. Fear was holding me back.
I kicked Pokey lightly and she started to move. Then I kicked her again, and I accepted her to freak out. She didn't want to move, but the she started to trot. When she started to slowly trot I was still shaking.
Then Jeremy came and urged, ¨Why don't you try some loping.¨
¨Okay,¨ I replied back still stuttering.
I kicked Pokey and made a clicking noise and then she jumped up and freaked out. I panicked as my heart raced and jumped of Pokey. Then Jeremy came running, and started to calm down Pokey.
¨Are you alright Ava?¨ Jeremy worried. ¨Why don't you get back on and try again,¨
¨I… I don't want to!¨ I

All my friend’s parents would take them to a nearby gym after school. It was a gym for kids and rock climbing was the cool thing to do. I wanted to go so badly and feel cool, just like my friends, but I was always afraid of heights. Never liked heights as a child, and when I was growing up I was left with that fear. One day I decided to face my fears, and thought to myself that rock climbing was an important skill to have under my belt. Also I thought this was a step closer to overcome my fear and rock climbing was the perfect way to get over that fear. I also knew this would be a great experience and will help me become physically and mentally stronger. What I didn’t realize was that learning to rock climb would also boost my self-esteem and to make me believe in myself more. I always felt on edge when I was faced with a new situation. It made me feel uncomfortable and not quite myself, it still does sometimes. But I knew with my very first rock climbing lesson there weren’t any more excuses!
