A Defense Of Grade Deflation By Will Harrel

434 Words1 Page

Will Harrel in his work “A defense of grade deflation,” argues that grade deflation distinguishes the students who are truly educated and exceptional from those who take easy classes in order to get by. The author was a freshman at Princeton University when this article was written. He seems to have enough drive and determination in order to embrace grade deflation compared to his peers, who complained and disagreed with the grading system, which is what started this essay. Will Harrel being only a first year student puts some constraints on his paper. His experience – or for better words, lack of – makes this article almost invalid. Just reading the title “A defense of grade deflation” people know where the author stands about the subject.
