Persecution of Falun Gong Becomes Unlawful
Why should I become a victim to what I believe in? The Chinese Republic has brainwashed, tortured, and killed most the population of the Falun Gong members. The Falun Gong itself is a peaceful religion, that believed in maintaining a healthy lifestyle with calm meetings and meditating. So, what exactly made this group become the major enemy of the Republic? The type of punishments that the Falun Gong members had to endure, were made to dehumanize the people in the Republic.
In 1992, Falun Gong was founded by Li Hongzhi. Falun Gong has been classified as a spiritual movement that uses breathing methods and meditating originating from the Buddhist and Daoist secs. From what Li has said, he has been taught the ways of Buddhism and Daoism which made him want to pursue the practice of what is now named Falun Gong. The practice grew rapidly because of the effectiveness of improving health and mindsets of the people that joined. The principles of Falun Dafa are: Truthfulness, Kindness, Patience; which are the exact opposite of the Republics’ views. China's views on Falun Gong were anger, jealousness, and bitterness. Resulting into the two striking out on eachother. The Falun Gong members didn’t react to their hatred so, the Republic had to find ways to make them transition out of their beliefs. The first thing they did was brainwash the members.
Of the killings of Falun Gong, brainwashing was a method to ‘cure’ the members. Since brainwashing goes straight to the mind and heart, the effects of this type of torture is more drastic than torturing the body. The techniques they use directs their minds eye to focus on what the China republic believes in. When the techniques are done and the t...

...ina Republic is going against that. Showing that having a good outlook on life isn’t worth taking your life, so you should rather be a bad person and kill others to keep your life. America itself is categorized as unfriendly and selfish. If America adopts the force of the Republic then where would we stand? I am not saying that America will become communist but I am saying that the people in America will start showing signs of force. Already now, attempting to kill is only 10 years and killing someone is 20-30 years. It should be for life, but the laws of America is becoming less and less strict. This is becoming an mass problem on global scale. Picking up the habits of others are truly easy and could be devastating to most. I leave you with this, will we allow this country to lose the sight of what’s good? Or will we let the wrongdoings of other overpower what are.
The Communist Party of China (CCP), in power since 1950, is not famous for its tolerance of those who do not agree with its ideology and opinion. People must adhere to the Party’s legislation, and face consequences (the severity of which is debated) if they resist or rebel. One way the CCP controls members is through religion. Although the government encourages almost cult-like devotion to the Party, it allows its constituents to participate in certain major international religions. One religion that is illegal to participate in under Chinese law is the spiritual practice of Falun Gong. A new movement, the Falun Gong grew quickly in China and globally, and was officially banned in 1999. The CCP claims the Falun Gong is evil, and should be destroyed humanely to save China. However, the Falun Gong is peaceful, and the Chinese government is the institution that tortures, jails, and abuses its citizens if they are practitioners of the religion. The international response calls for the halting of these immoral actions, but China still claims that it is destroying an evil institution. The simple fact China denies its members freedom of religion violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which China has signed, but the violence against its people if they adhere to Falun Gong beliefs is a gross abuse of its power. Although China bans many religions, there is special emphasis on the Falun Gong, and many wonder why. One highly possible reason is that the growth, international reach, and popularity of the Falun Gong threatens the universal power the CCP holds in China, weakening the government, and therefore leading to the destruction of the threat: the Falun Gong.
Thus, understanding the emergence of FLG definitely requires to begin with the qigong boom, which began with the invention of modern qigong for improving health in the 1940s, its proliferation was catalysed by a wave of popular religious traditions and an unfulfilled moral and spiritual vacuum. The primary goal of FLG practice is to achieve spiritual enlightenment and enter the Falun world, while this world becomes the stage of an apocalyptic moral battle between demonic forces and the great Fa. Where qigong allowed the fusion of practice and fantasies of health, prosperity and spirituality and involved opening the body to the diffused energies of the cosmos - collecting qi from surroundings, cultivating to higher level to receive the spiritual rewards.... ... middle of paper ... ...
After 1978, China’s society faced a whole new relationship with the state. As intellectuals became more independent, their perception of the state was changed. Prior to the Deng era, only bureaucratic corruption was questioned, while the actual system of the government was never interrogated. However, following the Maoist Regime, intellects threw their attacks on...
Fugui is forced to burn his shadow puppets, because they represent traditional China. Fengxia, who is the daughter of Fugui, gets married and has a baby. During the birth of her child, Fengxia dies. The nurses did not know what to do and this costed Fengxia her life. The movie concludes with what is left of Fugui’s family sitting down to eat. The plot of the movie showed the rise of the communist party and included two of Mao Zedong’s reforms. The movie does a good job of including historical events into the plot, while not taking away from the movie quality. In fact, the historical events portrayed helped enhance the plot. The connection of Fengxia’s death and the Cultural Revolution were perfectly linked in the plot. Interested in the movie, I did further research. After reading about the year it was filmed and the awards it won, I discovered that the movie is banned in China. This made me question whether the Chinese government should censor the movie. Looking at the movie from the view of Communist China, I understand why the movie is
The Cultural Revolution in China was led by Mao Zedong, due to this Liang and many others faced overwhelming obstacles in many aspects of their life such as work, family and everyday encounters, if affected everyone’s families life and education, Liang lets us experience his everyday struggles during this era, where the government determined almost every aspect of life.
There is no better way to learn about China's communist revolution than to live it through the eyes of an innocent child whose experiences were based on the author's first-hand experience. Readers learn how every aspect of an individual's life was changed, mostly for the worst during this time. You will also learn why and how Chairman Mao launched the revolution initially, to maintain the communist system he worked hard to create in the 1950's. As the story of Ling unfolded, I realized how it boiled down to people's struggle for existence and survival during Mao's reign, and how lucky we are to have freedom and justice in the United States; values no one should ever take for
The Chinese have repeatedly tortured, imprisoned, and murdered Tibetans all for what they claim is national unity. While the oppression of the Tibetan people began in the 1950’s with the invasion of China, it continues just as strongly today. From religious oppression and unfair trials to the torture of nuns and monks, the Chinese abuse even the most reverent aspects of Tibetan culture. Political prisoners, whether they are monks, nuns or lay people, are tortured with utter disregard for human rights. Chinese laws have also been established to eradicate the Tibetan people entirely. Women often must endure forced abortions and sterilization due to Chinese birth policies. Through all of these crimes against humanity, China repeatedly commits acts of genocide as established by the United Nations.
... to keep their opinions to themselves. It would take years for them to find their voice again. Not, only did this movement silence millions, but it was also the moment for many Chinese, when the cracks in the party started to show. The man who had been revered as a god, had made a mistake, and people started to question themselves and their beliefs.
The Red Guard strove to remove and destroy the Four Olds, foreign influence, enemies of the Party and the current societal structure by persecuting those who supposedly perpetuated them. All vestiges of outdated customs, habits, culture and ideas were to be destroyed, since the movement represented “a triumph of youth over age, of ‘the new’ over ‘the old.’” To do so, the Red Guard wrecked thousands of art collections and the contents of libraries, and changed “reactionary” street signs. They persecuted members of the public who attempted to stop them or refused to give up the Four Olds. Those who had foreign ties, like businessmen, missionaries, or who had western education were also persecuted to prevent backwards or rightist ideologies from spreading into the new Chinese society. Chinese intellectuals were also hounded for the same reason: to prevent free thought. The messages of the movement were “negative—against the established authority, against the Party, against the military” and the outdated structures of the older generation. To destroy the established order, the Red Guards attacked educational and political institutions that were enemies of Mao and the party, and created general havoc within China. The Red Guard targeted teachers, education policies, and universities to change the core of education and the qualities that it had extolled. Members of the general public and even party officials themselves were attacked, to remove the “capitalist roaders” with bourgeois tendencies from society. Mao hoped that in this chaos a new communist China would emerge.
Overview the history timeline, Mao Zedong made the cultural revolution because he wanted to remove all capitalism in the country to consolidate his party. In other words, he tried to firm his stage and power in the country, remove capitalism maybe just is an excuse of his hunger. Because a lot of evidences show that before he made this revolution, a lot of people was not side with him. Furthermore, his party do not had a lot of fund to support the party work well. Red Guard may could be considered as the way to obtain more money to build up the party (Knight). In the Western, Religion leaders also wanted people to be loyal. They were fear someone would overthrow them. To prevent it happen, Mao abuse the violent and punishment to firm communism. It caused by personal desire. Nevertheless, this way could control people in short time but not forever. Moreover, people’s beliefs also can determine the fate of a country. Because of that, Chinese leaders spent a lot of energy to unity people’s mind. First, they print out “Mao Zedong’s Quotation” and require everyone must read it and study it (Knight). It is the reason why no one tried to say no to Mao’s direction. Second, the party controlled all kind of publication, that make people can just obtain the information that the party want people to get (Princeton University). A good modern
Growing up in an American society citizens tend to take for granted the freedom and other personal liberties that are granted in their Constitution. Even though most Americans acknowledge that they are fortunate, it does not mean that other nations should limit their people's rights. China is one example of a nation that displays civilian limitation. China's constitution outlines specifically their people's civil liberties, granting them more freedom than the American Constitution provides. Most of these rights are either neglected or repressed (Bradsher, 2009). The Chinese government needs to omit corruption and make longer strides in their attempt to provide better rights for their citizens. Chinese citizens are becoming more aware of human right abuses, and the People's Republic of China can only prolong the issue for so much longer.
The United States government feared that a sizable number of the Chinese living in America could be convinced by the Red china back then. The U.S government then took the Chinese immigr...
“The whole character of Chinese popular religion flows in the direction of plethora of rituals and obligations without much discernable doctrinal underpinning” (Corduan, 2012, p.410). The Chinese popular religion has gravitated away the gods of Buddha and Daoism and captured the philosophy of luck and materialism (Corduan, 2012), while it “is less concerned with philosophical issues and
This shows how evil the Republic is. China’s government too violates human rights, even though it is not as severe as the Republic. According to National Geographic China: Inside the Dragon, there is a lack of worker rights in China. Workers don’t get payed enough for their job and have to work long hours. This is how China is one of the leading countries in producing items because they have cheap labor. (Hessler 13) Also in China there is a one-child policy rule. Citizens are not allowed to have more than one child in China. The government also neglects freedom of press and speech. This is mostly in mainland China. According to the New York Times, on March 26, 2015, Chinese security agents raided the offices of the Beijing Yirenping Center, a human rights organization. (Jacobs 1) This raid was organized because the organization was going to publicize the detentions of five women activists. As you can see now, both The Republic and the government of China violate human rights in many ways.
...ng the time of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, mayhem was a part of everyday life. Mao Zedong encouraged rebellious actions from the Red Guards, and rewarded those who shone as leaders. He also targeted his political rivals by provoking the Red Guards to follow his ideas, and annihilate all remnants of china?s old culture. After the revolution ended, the Red guards received the disciplinary actions they deserved, and the tortured victims finally inadvertently received the vengeance they deserved.
