At 7:00am when the planes were taking off Eileen was giving birth. When the actual event of September 11, 2001 was happening Bob and Eileen where resting, sleeping, eating and generally trying to figure out what to do with their new baby. They spent many hours being wrapped up in the cocoon of being new parents, well the nurses tiptoed in and out of the room checking up on them. Bob was finally able to get his phone and started to try and make phone calls to all the friends he found that it was very hard. He tries to call everyone on the east coast since that’s where all the friends and family. We finally got in touch with a friend in New York City and shared our news and she replied it’s so nice to get good news on such a tragic day.
PAN AM flight 103, taxied down London’s Heathrow airport at approximately 6:04 P.M., on December, 21st, 1988 en-route to New York City (Rosenburg, 2014). With 243 passengers and 16 crew members, “Clipper 103” as it was identified, had no clue they had roughly 38 minutes to live (Rosenburg, 2014). As the crew approached the oceanic portion of the flight the pilot requested permission from the tower to proceed with their journey over the Atlantic Ocean. This was the last time air traffic control would have verbal contact with the aircraft (Ushynskyi, 2009). A midair explosion sent all 259 people on board to a fiery grave. The remnants of the explosion rained down on the unsuspecting town of Lockerbie, Scotland,
Introduction On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center buildings one and two were attacked. However, who we were attacked by and even if we were attacked is a hard decision to make. There have been many different claims about how everything on that fateful day happened. There are facts that we know are true, though; Flight 11 flew into the North Tower at eight forty- six in the morning.
September 11th, 2001 is one of the worst days in the United States of America’s history by far. It all began at 8:45am when a stolen airplane crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. Many people believed that this was...
In March of 2016, a 7-year-old-girl, Jenna Viloria, dialed 9-1-1 after her dad fell unconscious to the floor. Jenna Viloria, remained calm and was able to provide dispatchers with her complete address and patiently waited for help to arrive, consequently saving her father’s life. 9-1-1 centers, such as the one Jenna called, are responsible for coordinating first responders, this task is an integral part of the Homeland Security mission. In 2013, days after the marathon bombing, a call came into a 9-1-1 center stating that there was a person hiding inside man’s boat that was located outside his home. With a suspect on the loose, 9-1-1 dispatcher informed officers in the area. Two minutes later, law enforcement officers secured the scene, and
On April 19, 1995 at exactly 9:02 a.m, a 5,000-pound bomb that was hidden inside a Ryder truck exploded right outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The explosion caused massive destruction killing 168 people (19 of those people being children). The two masterminds behind the Oklahoma City Bombing were by the names of Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols. On April 19, 1993, the standoff between the FBI and the Branch Davidian cult at the Davidian compound in Waco, Texas ended in a tragedy. The entire compound had combusted into flames and took the lives of 75 people including children. With the death toll being extremely high from the explosion, many people were angry and decided to blame the U.S Government for causing such disaster. Timothy McVeigh was one of those
September 11th, 2001 marks the longest and most tragic day in American history. It started off as a normal morning, kids waking up to go to school, people getting to work, and others just taking a morning run, As if nothing was going to happen. Then all of a sudden at 8:46 Flight 11 hits the north tower of the World Trade Center in Ney York City. There were 767 on board and 20,000 gallons of jet fuel. It hit on the 80th floor out of 110 stories. Imagine hearing a big sound of an explosion while at work? At first people thought it was just a miss-guided plane that had hit the top of the tower. Everyone was rushing out of his or her office buildings and people were trying to evacuate the world trade as fast as they could. Some were told that they did not have to leave the second building because it was just a mislead plane and it was okay. Then at 9:03 a second plane hits the south tower. By this time the newscast had been recording, so everyone saw what was happening. People were running from it and the streets were crowed with people trying to leave. People all over the world were freaking out because no one was really sure what had happened. After the second plane hitting they started researching the flight and who was on it. While looking that up they started to recognize some names, they pieced together that it was a terrorist attack. Involved with Alkyda because they recognized names from the people that were on the flights. During this time Bush was the president of the United States, he had been in Sarasota with a group of kids listening to them read and learn in a local school. Bush had no idea the second plane was hit because he had been in this classroom not able to answer phone calls. He had no idea what was going on. ...
He sobbed his answer. Bob was dead; I had met him only a few times, but I felt that I had known him through his brother (p. 382).”
Tuesday September 11, 2001 will be forever in the minds of Americans all across the world, especially those in the United States. At approximately 8:45 a.m. in New York City, American Airlines Boeing 767 crashed into north tower of the World Trade Center (History.com, 2014). The plane crashed into the 80th floor of the World Trade Center. Many people were killed instantly, as a result of the crash. Unfortunately, less than 20 minutes later another Boeing 767 from United Airlines crashed into the south tower of the 60th floor of the World Trade Center. Once again, the impact of the second crash killed many people. Those not killed immediately, were trapped on the upper floors with little to no chance of survival. The two planes also caused debris that was on fire to land on surrounding buildings (History.com, 2014). America had no idea that those two planes crashes ...
America is a country where citizens are proud to live and be apart of the great culture. Through many hardships, including the Vietnam war, the Gulf War, 9/11, and Afghanistan; the American population has binded together and show that no matter what happens, they will overcome the adversity. Time and time again, Americans have proven to the world that nothing will keep them down. When a country is threatened as a whole, specifically America and 9/11, the citizens will come together, and they will express a great deal of patriotism while showing their worries towards national security.
The skies were clear and vibrant blue, while two towers stood tall in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Within a matter of hours, these large towers, the twin towers, collapsed and the skies that were once blue were stained with ashes. Terrorism in the US has been an unresolved problems and continues today and in many other countries. Many solutions are needed in order to prevent tragedies like 9/11 from happening to the country again. Over the past years there has been many debates about terrorism and its prevention since the 9/11 attack on the world trade center. Many Americans on a daily basis work and attend to their priorities. There should be no reason that Americans should feel insecure and afraid in their own homeland because security
September 11, 2001 was a day that Americans and the world for that matter will not soon forget. When two planes went into the twin towers of the World Trade Center and two others went into the Pentagon and a small town in Pennsylvania, the world was rocked. Everyone in the United States felt very vulnerable and unsafe from attacks that might follow. As a result, confidence in the CIA, FBI, and the airlines were shaken. People were scared to fly after what had happened.

The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, dominated world headlines. The event became the longest non-stop news coverage in American history. Since an aircraft hit the moment the first World Trade Center, millions of people began to tune in to their local news networks. Shortly after the second aircraft hit the second tower, local broadcasts were interrupted to inform Americans of the unfolding disaster. Many news stations ran around the clock coverage giving updates on every aspect of the events.
We all know about the attacks on September 11th. The news interrupted broadcasts to show that first plane hit the tower. I was still trying to comprehend that when the reports were updated to show the second plane. Thousands were killed. It was a tragedy and we should never forget it.
I’d have to say that it is difficult to view all of the footage of the World Trade Center and not think that some stories that are being fed to us Americans are not the full truth. For all of the events that take place in the world to be so heavily covered by the media, I still don’t seem to grasp a clear picture of what’s really going in the world abroad and neither do the rest of the American people. I believe that the president is to alert the American people of important matters concerning our well being. I can’t help but feel a certain amount of betrayal from our president and administration for not taking further action to stop these planes while they were still in the air seeing that they indeed had prior knowledge of these attacks. I am glad to see that the American people are seeking the truth and I believe that we have every right to ask the government questions. The problem that is posed is the fact that the government is not answering these questions for us nor are attempting themselves to research these concerns that we have.
