Lia Steakley, who works in Stanford Medicine, reports that added sugar is often defined as conventional sugar, and it is often added to soft drink, cookie, yogurt, and cereal when they were prepared and processed(Steakley, 2015). According to another study of consumption of added sugar, Mollie Turner illustrates that both the added sugar consumption of adult and children was increased for a huge number of calories. For the adult, they used to consume about 228 calories a day in 1977 to 300 calories in 2010. On the other hand, the consumption of kids were increased by approximately 20%, which is 277 to 329 calories per day(Turner, 2014). According to Harvard study, the author mentioned that people are absolutely unaware of added sugar (“How to Spot”, 2014). For this point of view, people are not knowledgeable about consuming a large quantity of added sugar will be harmful. Moreover, people omit the negative effects of added sugar (“How to Spot”, 2014). Additionally, added sugar is a rapidly absorbed food, which totally increases chance to produce higher blood glucose and the insulin for human bodies. With either the level of insulin or blood sugar raised, the chance of getting diabetes will be easily conducted (“How to Spot”, 2014). To take a closer look at it, consuming too much added sugar will directly result in obesity, heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, and dementia. Consequently, people are slowly dying by intaking too much added sugar. Another precise study conducted by Harvard health publications, a long-term study found that people who consume twenty five percent or more added sugar have a higher risk of dying than people who consume less than ten percent of added sugar (A Sugar Diet, 2014). Also, the author asserts that added sugar contains nearly ten percent of calories in the diet per day (A Sugar Diet, 2014).
