Effects of Media on American Culture
The convergence of media is a great thing if everyone uses it properly, and ethics are employed. People can be anywhere and find out what is going on the world. This ability is especially important in the business world where something affecting another country can also affect your business. Whether people realize it or not, the happenings in another country do directly affect us in the United States. Events around the world affect the value of our dollar, our economy, and the stock market which in turn affects our personal retirements. A person does not want to wait until the 10:00 news to find out that something happened in China, and their stocks are now worthless. They want that information as soon as possible so they can decide to sell it while it still has value, or ride it out and see if it regains value.

Information and news media should not have a role in the shaping of political opinions. Their role should be nothing more than presenting the facts so that people can form their own fact-based, educated opinions. In reality, information and news media push whatever side their agenda is on. If they are democratic in nature, they will glorify democratic ventures, good or bad, while making Republican, Independent, Liberal, and Conservatives look bad.
I had to dig deep to get my information on the candidates, the average person will not dig for facts, they will rely on what media puts out there for them to read. Therefore, what the public needs is all the facts whether good or bad, then the public can read the facts, do more research if they want to and make a sound decision based on the facts.
