Education is in the mind of the beholder
“A good education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.” We come to school to learn is what we have been taught. As if everything that has been learned from birth until now has been deemed invalid. Learning in done in the classroom; living is done in life. With no connection between the two. However to truly receive a good education is based solely on the ability to apply what you have learned to everyday experiences. Education as a whole is on a much bigger scale than sitting in the classroom in front of the teacher. The value the student hold to the education has a lot to do with the way the education is obtained. A foreign exchange student is willing to leave behind family, friends, their culture, tradition, everything has ever known for the smallest opportunity to be a better person in this world. The constant willingness and undying devotion given to receive a good education by the foreign exchange student is what many students in society life. You can’t teach someone who doesn’t want to learn therefore our education system is constantly taking for granted because many people feel like it sold to them. Any place. Any time. “We need to get kids out of the school buildings, give them a chance to learn about the world first hand.” Learning is the one thing that has no restrictions. Despite your situation and circumstances you are free to openly and actively seek out learning opportunities that manifest constantly in the world around us. It doesn’t matter whether you’re in the classroom or on the job there is always a lesson to be learned. Oftentimes one lesson holds weight in both environments. They are just presented differently, case in point, the simple lesson of ‘2+2=4’. In the classroom the student and sat down with pen and paper then told “Jonny has two apples. Alex give him 2 more. How many apples does Johnny have now?” It is in left up to the student to understand the basic concept that will be applied to many interactions throughout life. In contrast while on the job, the employee is put behind a cash register. He encounters a customer whose total is $4, she pays $2 in cash and $2 dollars on her card. Given this personal interaction with this basic concept then play immediately understands the customer has paid her debt and concludes the transactions in both situations the lesson is learned the purpose is based on the student’s learning
