American scholar was a speech given by Ralph Waldo Emerson to the scholars of phi Beta kappa society at Cambridge on August 31, 1837. Many years after the independence of American but still country was under the influence of Europe. It is the first time for Ralph Waldo Emerson building the new American cultural identity.
