Recommended: Comparing the U. S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence

American scholar was a speech given by Ralph Waldo Emerson to the scholars of phi Beta kappa society at Cambridge on August 31, 1837. Many years after the independence of American but still country was under the influence of Europe. It is the first time for Ralph Waldo Emerson building the new American cultural identity. According to Johnson, Belasco (2008), page (447) states that Jefferson’s draft of the declaration of independence was held on june 7, year 1776, Richard Henry Lee, was a represented from Virginia (a place name) to the 2nd congress. During his time especially offered resolutions to all the problems. Actually American colonies were meant to be free and independent states that they are free from any question of guilt from all commitment to the British country. Emerson’s uses transcendentalist and romantic views to get his point across by explaining a true American scholar’s relationship to nature. It is also compare to the independence because nature is a free gift of god where everyone can use it for their own importance and enjoy the beauty of it. So here nature is compare to the independence and the American constitution. As nature do not have as such owner for them, everyone exiting can enjoy the resources from it without making any payment to them. Emerson education mainly consist of three influences like nature, past and action. This mainly deals with the independence during Emerson period. American scholar mainly deals with the role of the scholar; it does not intent to deal with the American identity. But with the freedom and liberty. Independence to him was to make obvious that “peace and safety “of his country under the exclusively on the success of the individual. Sixty years after independence, American people, culture were still heavily influenced by European culture and traditions. Emerson was a first man who helps the constitution and people to be united and to preserve their own culture. American scholar is a speech which is delivered to a Cambridge collage. Though American scholar is a speech but it is not a speech given about how to achieve Independence and to maintain the good constitution.
