The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast deep dish pizza vs. thin crust pizza.

While many would say, “Heck, pizza is pizza.” I beg to differ.

I will start with thin crust pizza, which one can get in 18 inches, 16 inches, 14, 12 or 10 inches in diameter. The dough is rolled out to the appropriate size and is generally flat all the way around, and then it is traditionally covered in a tomato-based sauce as the first layer.

Then comes a layer of mozzarella cheese, and then toppings of your choice. These toppings could include sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, spinach, olives, ham, and pineapple, or many other choices that one may want. After this pizza has been built, it is baked for about 20 minutes in a hot oven, until the thin crust is a golden brown and the cheese is melted with a delicate browning to it. In Chicago land, it is then cut crosswise in to individual squares for consumption. In New York, the pizza is cut in to pie shapes so the pizza can be folded as it is eaten.
