I was running late to my class. As I entered my Biology class, I noticed that there were no chairs available. I frantically looked around to where I could sit for the class period. I finally decided that I would go to the back of the class as the teacher stood there lecturing the class about Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis. As I sat in the back, I wondered how was I supposed to focus and learn in this type of environment? There were too many people. Some people chatted, some people texted on their phones, and some people slept. This was one of the many problems students faced as they tried to learn in school. Parents wanted the best education for their children. Education was a way to a better and brighter future. It was frightening to know that many areas of the United States had schools that had classroom sizes at exceedingly high levels. Similarly to my school back in my hometown, I had learned that I had troubles learning due to the vast classroom size. I understood that many schools could not afford smaller classroom sizes, “School districts claim that they cannot afford to reduce the size of classes because it would be too expensive” (“Why Class Size Matters Today”). I had noticed that poorer communities had classroom sizes larger than the national average. The national average was between twenty-five and twenty-six which was about the size of a large classroom. The education disparities were getting worse due to the lack of funds to support smaller classrooms. The government needed to make a plan to improve the education system to save the future of the United States. The younger generations were going to run the country in the future.
