The 22 year-old is being compared to top players around the league such as Ronaldo, Messi and Ribery because of his rapidly growing potential. A sports prodigy in his own right, Neymar is not only the most admired athlete in Brazil these days, but he’s also the country’s hope of winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the South American nation. At the age of 19, he had prestigious soccer clubs such as Barcelona, PSG, and Real Madrid salivating over his remarkable talent however, the price for his rights did not come cheap. He is currently playing for Barcelona FC and will be one of Brazil’s finest forwards on the team in the 2014 Brazil World Cup and for many years to come. Neymar currently takes in 10.5 million euros per year, not including endorsements (“Forbes”). Many individuals believe that athletes are being over paid for their expertise since some don’t follow sporting events or teams of some sort. Not even the highest paid jobs in Canada earn close to Neymar’s salary, and all he has to do is partake in practice, and play one or two 90-minute games per week. Many individuals may say that Neymar is overpaid and is not worth his salary due to his young age, and athletes in general are becoming more and more overpaid than the should be.
