Introduction: Attention Getter: Jack Kevorkian is a well-known doctor in the medical field who gained his nickname, “Dr. Death” after being know to bring up controversial issues and ideas related to death. Finding a way to use organs from death row in ill patients, or using the blood from recently killed soldiers in other soldiers in need of blood transfusion are just a couple of these controversial ideas. He was arresting and tried for helping over 130 men and women end their lives via assisted suicide, and ended up being charged with 2nd degree murder. Dr. Kevorkian famously said, “I would not want to live with a tube in my neck and not be able to move a finger. I wouldn 't - that to me is not life”. Argument 1: Although quite harsh, euthanasia can increase the quality of life. A: Once the initial shock of a loved one being gone, there can be a better quality in life of those who were close to the ill patient. Almost like a weight being lifted off, they no longer have to worry about what else they can do to make the person more comfortable. B: Even though after euthanasia, there is no more life, the time before the passing may have been more comfortable. Euthanasia was something they could control in their lives, illness is something no one chooses. Knowing they have the ability to take over just one of the variables in their life may be comforting. For many ill patients, extending life just gives opportunity to extend suffering and pain. C: The patient who is seeking euthanasia is also given the opportunity to have important conversations with their loved ones, they are able to give input on any arrangements that will be necessary. It will not be a difficult waiting game where you never know when you may pass, but instead you are able to be surrounded and say goodbye to all the people they
