While watching the film, it was difficult not to feel uncomfortable when a character would say something demining another race group while the person was still in the room. For example when Jean mentioned to her husband she wanted the locks changed the next day while they were being changed, “I would like the locks changed again in the morning. And you know what; you might mention that next time we 'd appreciate it if they didn 't send a gang member...” She just assumed he was a gang member because he had a buzzed cut and was Latino, with no remorse she looked at him and didn’t even feel bad. Jean is a white woman, who is a stay at home mom, and her husband is the District Attorney. In terms of intersectionlity, I think it’s important that we multiple characteristics to understand her place in society because if we just judge he on being a white female, we don’t fully understand the person. …show more content…

Because of the way we present ourselves to world is the way we are perceived and it was a barrier that Daniel had to encounter constantly. First, when he went to change the locks at Jean’s home and when he went to change the lock at Farhad’s store. In one circumstance he was called a gang member and in the other a cheater, I think where we stopped watching it was suggested that Farhad thought it was Daniel who had trashed the store. Daniel being a single father made me think differently about him because in the beginning, I really did think he was a gang member because of the way he was dressed, and also because Anthony and Peter did everything they said white people think they were going to do so I thought Daniel was going to come back a burglarize the Cabots home.
