Analysis on Donald Trump’s Wall Between Mexico Proposal While President Obama reaches the end of his second term as the 44th president in 2016 , more Americans become anxious when it comes to who will be next leader of the United States. The two major political parties, Republicans and Democrats, often divide the presidential election candidates based on different opinions and goals for the country. In terms of philosophy, Republicans believe in conservatism, fiscal conservatism, and social conservatism (Inside Gov). One man who has been gaining mass media attention on the Republican side is billionaire businessman and television personality Donald J. Trump (The Politics and Election Portal). Prior to running in the 2016 presidential elections, Trump was heavily involved with his real estate business, Trump Organization, and running his television show The Apprentice (The Politics and Election Portal). Despite his lack of political experience, Trump has managed to win most of the election polls on the Republican side (The Politics and Election Portal). On June 2015, Trump announced his one of his plans to solve the immigration issue in the United States. He believes that one of the main issues the United States faces is the amount of undocumented Hispanics coming over to the United States from the Mexico border. With this belief, Trump proposed to build a larger wall between Mexico and America to strengthen the border security and keep undocumented Hispanics out of the United States. He stated that Hispanics are largely responsible for “bringing drugs, crime, and rapists” into America. The cost of the wall will be several billions of dollars and Trump states he will get Mexico to pay for it. Although America was historically ... ... middle of paper ... ... in immigrants finding other ways to bypass the current immigrant regulations while Trump is fixated on building the wall. As for positive unintended consequences for having the wall, the structure could possibly become a monument. A wall that spans several thousands of miles over thirty feet tall will be one of the largest infrastructures build in America. The current border between Mexico and United States already does a sufficient job at preventing illegal immigrants entering the United States. With the amount of time and resources put into building the wall, it would be impractical because the wall will return little results. Creating the wall will do more harm than good because most illegal immigrants do not jump over the border. Rather than focused on building the wall, Trump would be better off focusing on other issues or pertaining to illegal immigration.
