The Babysitting Experience Early in December, I concluded the first semester of the school year and was looking forward to the holiday break that lay ahead. Although, with Christmas three and a-half weeks away, I still hadn’t save up the amount of money I planned to spend on gifts for the holidays. Struggling to reach my goal, I began to look for alternatives to a traditional job. In order to earn the money in record time, I mustn’t deter myself from my goal, even if my job options were narrow. During the hours when Everlee was asleep and Paxton was as calm as he’d …show more content…

All I received in response was fiercer crying and knew Paxton was well past reasoning. At my side Everlee was indifferent to the situation as she teetered along while I brought her and her wailing brother back into the house. As my babysitting gig came to an end, I found myself comforted by the thought of handing the kids over to my cousin, Maddison. When Maddison came and knocked on the door at the end of the day, I felt my stress dissipate, as much as I loved babysitting Everlee and Paxton, the best part of my day was when the lot of them drove away. The well-earned stillness and solitude surrounded me like a warm blanket. Reflecting back on the day, I appreciated babysitting Everlee and Paxton, and even though periodically I felt like quitting, I persevered through the day and acquired enough money to buy meaningful gifts for the holidays. With the day behind me I felt accomplished and
