Rowling states many beautiful and extraordinary key points about everyone’s life in her writing. She has always been a major inspiring author in my life and through her speech to the graduating class of Harvard, she only seems to impress and astonish me further. She says such beautiful things, such as, “failure in life is inevitable,” or, “what we achieve inwardly will change outer reality.” Rowling has a way to say the things that everyone pushes far away from their thoughts and denies its very existence. However, there is one thing she says that applies to everyone no matter their walk of life or past experiences. Rowling says, “Life is difficult, and complicated, and beyond anyone’s total control, and the humility to know that will enable you to survive its vicissitudes.” In my life, her quote translates to situations where I take the things I value for granted. I took the friendships that I was blessed to have and only truly appreciated them when I wanted to. Now that a lot of my friends are split up, it only makes life feel more miserable. Through reading Rowling’s quote, “Life is difficult, and complicated, and beyond anyone’s total control and the humility to know that will enable to survive its vicissitudes.” I have accomplished the idea of what it means to have true friendships. To have such a relationship with people in my life, I need to be able to give them everything and make them feel important, because by taking them for granted, I am tossing them over my shoulder like another holiday greeting card; there will always be more to come. By being able to know that friendships won’t last forever, I can be grateful for them before they disappear so I won’t be so heartbroken, but instead reminiscent in the promising times of the past when the vicissitudes begin to
