I know that the Modern Foreign Languages Department at your school is well equipped and the fact that the inspectors in the recent Ofsted inspection pointed out that German consistently performs well proves that teaching and learning is highly effective. In addition, I am extremely attired in the experiment in which the most able Year 9 pupils are being prepared to enter GCSE French/German. I would very like to be part of successful school and department and I am convinced that I am able to make significant contribution to maintain and raise the present high standards. In the last two years I gained an insight in how to lead a department successfully and I made notable contribution to the development and implementation of practices for the subject and whole school policies. Since last September I take part in the head of department meetings on behalf of my current head of department. During these meetings I keep the head teacher as well as the other head of departments informed about current issues and plans in the MFL department and I define the MFL department position when it comes to discussing issues which affect all departments. Moreover, since last year I am a member of the ‘School Improvement Group’ where I have to evaluate current practise and make recommendations for improvements. For instance, I undertook research on how successful the implementation of the ‘Extended Learning Opportunities was. I carried out a survey in year 8 and year 10, analysed the results and made recommendations to the head teacher on how to make the Extended Learning Opportunities better working. Lastly, last December I took part in a course entitled ‘How to be an Outstanding Head of an MFL Department’. In addition, I also proposed the purchase of new resources; the head of department followed my advice. I am certain that I would be able to lead the MFL department at your school successfully. I would continue the good practice and I would put all my knowledge gained during the last two years into practice in order to raise standards even further. For instance, I would focus on improving the GCSE results in French and to create more opportunities for pupils to work independently as well as to ensure that work is matched to students’ ability. There are a lot of reasons why I chose to pursue pharmacy as my career and they all point to the most important reason: pharmacy is a great fit for my life and is something I have become increasingly passionate about. It started when I was researching careers with my parents and my dad suggested pharmacy and, simply put, it sparked my interest because at the time it was one of the few things I thought I would not hate doing. A healthcare career has always been where I put myself in the future, mainly because most of my family members are in the healthcare field. However, I have never been one that could directly help the wounded or deal with anything gory, but am very intrigued by the growing science of pharmacy. As I continue exploring pharmacy, the more I enjoy learning about it and feel like I could excel in this career.
The School Leadership Team (STT) has a huge responsibility to lead, including instructional coaching duties, and mentoring the new teachers. Parameters were set in place by the principal, offering a clear vision, including clearly-defined values and teachers are becoming empowered through leadership opportunities, which have been devoid in the past. Therefore, I think the leadership style is effective, because the administrator is willing to share the leadership, and I have witnessed firsthand the impact an instructional coach is having on the school, and the individual growth of that coach is becoming immeasurable. 2. The principals current practice is to have her “office” on the go. At the practicum site, there is a spot in the school, which is centrally located at four corners of the building, and this is where the principal can be found during the day, most of the time. She is setup with a cart, her laptop, cell phone and a daily planner, and likes to be out in the building, rubbing shoulders with teachers and kids. The observed leader has good judgment because the mixture of personal life and professional life does not interfere with the decision-making process. Williams. I was thrilled when I came to work here to find that Mrs. Williams is the type of respected but approachable leader that is my preferred leadership style. I am grateful to have her as my mentor for this learning experience, as I feel we match closely in leadership qualities. My strength as a leader is the supportive leadership style. Like Mrs. Williams, I feel that building relationships and a culture of respect and trust is key to being an effective leader. As a teacher, I spend a good amount of time at the beginning of each year building a rapport with students and families which helps me connect with the students. In today’s society, the definition of leadership is ever-changing and is always being improved. As a leader, my mission is to treat everyone equally and give them the respect they deserve. This semester was very challenging, but my leadership skills have improved. As a leader, my roles play a significant part in the lives of my constituents. I am eager to say, but I enjoyed every moment of my volunteer experience as a prospective Certified Student Leader (C.S.L). Taking the course, introduction to leadership was not a mistake, but a way for me to grow and mature as a leader. As you can see the school board handles many issues from budgets, to tenure, to performance scores, to conferences. Although this paper did not cover everything in the meeting, it summarized what took place, and what affects it would have on teachers. The decisions made no matter how big or small can influence how and what task a teacher performs. The school board meeting was interesting because you are able to see how the changes could affect you personally.
